Castro as a cop blew my mind. Seriously, that turns quite a bit of season 1 on its head.
Only thing I wasn't into was Kobra Moon/Bengala. It turned out really rough, IMO.

Ahh, so it was Castro in the cop role (I swear the SD version must be filmed with turnip). That is cool, still not fond of Ryan though.

I will say this all season whenever I watch this.
All world champions in wrestling should have a throne where they can watch the action in the ring.

Alright, so if Castro/Reyes is a cop, can Killshot be his Federal Agent Contact?

Last night's show had 136,000 viewers up from last weeks while the replay had 81,000.
Slowly but surely they are getting to the 150 mark.

Castro was an undercover cop all along? At least he has an excuse to losing those matches now

Has anyone else noticed that Texano is pretty much exactly the new Latino megastar WWE desperately wants to have and failed to mold Alberto into? Blue-collar man of the people, decently tall and well-built, speaks English, more of a brawler than a high-flyer.
He's a bit low-key for the sheer insanity of Lucha Underground, but him and Cuerno (another guy who speaks English, isn't particularly small by WWE standards, and who's shown he can work a more grounded style when he wants to) feel like the guys who'd have the most success if they got signed by those gringos in Connecticut.

OH MY GOD THAT ENDING MADE ME SO HAPPY. I seriously haven't marked out like that in quite awhile.
Opening match was what it was, sadly kind of lacking, but I freaking adored Evans vs. Drago. Been following all the Generation Next boys since 2004, and it warms my heart to see Jack back on the US radar after a lot of time in Mexico, dude has stepped up his game something fierce. Plus, Drago may just be my favorite guy in the Temple, so I hope those two have a bunch of wars this season; that's the type of feud I'd be perfectly alright with them running all the way to Ultima Lucha for a blow off. Main event was rock solid, and I love that the opening storyline this season is that Mil MUST dispose of Fenix; Catrina can manipulate the others, even Puma, but Fenix is Mil's kryptonite and he knows it. Meanwhile, Cuerno continues to be awesome; I love the type of villain he is, and I love that in this company faces and heels don't fit into neat little paradigms; on the heel side, Mil is brutalizing, Johnny and Jack are arrogant, but Cuerno is ice cold and calculating, it really sets him apart.
Also, Aerostar as a time traveling space man is 1000% ok in my book, and Texano crushing beer glasses with his bare hands after clubbing random masked men to unconsciousness with a bull rope is everything this world needs.
You know what's really great about this show? They take some of the tropes people are so sick of from companies like WWE and demonstrate "no, see, those tropes CAN work, you just have to not write a shitty show". You want Texano as a "common man" babyface? Film a vingette that really highlights everything you want people to associate with him; don't just tell us, SHOW us, and LU did just that. You want to have a champion lose a non-title match? Have the match be high quality, highly consequential, and don't do it every damn week just to set up yet another rematch, and Fenix/Cuerno delivered in spades.
But yeah, Joey Ryan walking in and my dawning realization that we're about to get a Joey Ryan/Ricky Reyes buddy cop movie made me literally pump my fists in happiness. I never knew how much I wanted this until just now.

So the body count for Lucha Underground is:
Bael Dragon Azteca Big Ryck Konnan Daivari?
Kobra Moon's strikes are too light and moves lack intensity. Bengala is less bengal and more bumblebee. Not a good debut showcase. Cocky Jack Evans is the best. Texano's vignette did a good job explaining his character and motivation. Very fun last man standing. Fenix vs Cuerno is an unheralded feud. Joey is sleazy enough to be a cop.

Another thing: If Aerostar is an ancient spaceman, can we get a Giorgio A. Tsoukalos cameo?

Joey Ryan as a cop made me laugh my ass off. Main event was awesome. Cuerno is probably my favorite character so I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for him. Also digging this Pentagon Jr./Prince Puma beef.

After going back to watch Drago Vs Jack Evans I gotta say I never paid attention to it before but Dragos theme is metal as f*** and is the best theme next to Pentagons , such a perfect theme for a gawd damn reincarnated Dragon.

I googled him to see if he was still with the company, and found a recent interview saying he will be showing up later, but couldn't reveal too much. I'm guessing he's linked to those special forces vignettes. Could he be going full terrorist again?

I was going by the 2nd comic that had a bald man in sunglasses getting killed before Big Ryck got murked by Mil. While the concept behind the comic is good, the artwork not so much. But if he is still around, I do hope they avoid the temptation of doing the rich Arab sponsoring terrorism trope with Daivari. He deserves something other than "Arab Guy" in wrestling.

I'll have to see that again, for how closely he looks like him. I have a feeling that established guys would get a little more ink, like Ryck.

So now that we have introdouced time travel it is more true about this show than ever before in that there is no limits to what they can do.
I imagine Alternative universe versions..which would be so f***ing cool and would be a great way to change gimmicks and alignments of guys without having to go through a long drawn out story.
Aerostar time jumps at the end of the season and winds up in an alters the timeline where Puma is a mega heel managed by Catrina , Pentagon is the hero to the people...Drago is no longer a dragon but full on demon spawn etc.
Sorry mind runnin wild with the possibilities now which are endless.

Also, watching the ending segment with Cortez: what are they investigating Cueto for? I initially thought it was for running an illegal fight club, but then they passed up on a freaking murder charge. Cortez said what I was thinking, that they had enough evidence to bust him on Bael's murder, but then his captain said this "goes beyond the death of some street thug."
I'm calling it now: Ryan is dirty, he's betraying Reyes/Castro.
I also looked back at the comic to find if Daivari was one of the guys killed, and I didn't see anyone who looked like him. Death toll was:
-Mariachi band; 3 members (Mil is apparently not a music lover; it must be hard to get gigs at the Temple now). -Big Ryck -Guy on street wearing bandana -Guy on street in Hot Rod shirt -Guy on street (bald, mustache, didn't really look like Daivari)
