Do you know something, as much as this show has basically thrown out the comics, it isnt actually that bad. I've enjoyed episodes 1 and 2...

I am loving the show. It is a neat blend of the revamped Archie and a bit of Twin Peaks. I doubt it last more than 2 seasons but I will be watching each week. For me,unless something changes on Powerless,Riverdale is the best live action comic book based tv currently airing. Watched EP 03 last night when I got home and damn was it good.

Caught up with this on Netflix recently (and just recalled this thread). I just wanted to say that BlackoutCreature said this (under spoilers just in case someone's catching up like I did): {Spoiler}{Spoiler} As for the Jason murder story arc, here's my theory - Polly didn't have a mental breakdown. Jason got her pregnant. And while Jason originally saw her as just a conquest, he genuinely grew to love her. Realizing neither family would approve of them getting married and raising the child together, Jason came up with a plan to fake his death with Cheryl and run away with Polly. Betty's Mom found out about this and decided to put a stop to it by putting a bullet in Jason's head and sent Polly off somewhere to have the baby (or possibly an abortion). Now Betty's Mom is using her newspaper to portray Cheryl as the guilty party.
and it was way more on point than it had any right being.

Watched this on Netflix over the summer. Honestly I don't even know how to process it as someone who used to read Archie comics as a kid. The Archie/Grundy deal weirded me out to begin with (though it was a nice tough that they showed a pic of the real Ms. Grundy, which was the gray haired woman from the comics).
But yeah, it is really, really like Twin Peaks. Especially the teen soap aspects of Twin Peaks and the murder. It doesn't go in as many weird directions perhaps. It seems curiously retro in a different way. Twin Peaks felt like some bizarre retro 1955-63 era America whereas Riverdale feels like some sort of late 90s/early 2000s era show.
I know the Kevin character is in the newer comics but I would be willing to bet he's nowhere near as over the top as he is on the TV show. On Riverdale Kevin is constantly this massive gay stereotype that screams out "Look at how GAY this GAY guy is at all times!" From what I've seen even some really obviously gay guys have other interests in life besides just being gay at all times. There's one guy on my Facebook feed that if you met him you'd know he's ultra gay, but if I talk to him on Facebook it's mostly about the MLB standings or Kobe Bryant's place in the history of basketball.

Now that Kevin is a regular instead of recurring, I bet they flesh him out more. I also read they plan to do the same with Josie. I'm glad I gave the show a chance, as I quite enjoyed it. The insane marketing the CW did for it was nearly a complete turn-off for me (don't get in the way of me and my Supernatural previews).

This show was way better than it had any right to be. Though I have a soft spot for wtf twisty soap opera like shows so this hit the right areas for me.

So I'm not sure what kind of interest there still is with the show on the boards, but I had to comment after watching the first two episodes of the season. I gotta give the producers of the show major props for being willing to kill off three canon characters like that. That takes balls.
And I've gained a new respect for Madelaine Petsch after watching that locker room scene with Betty.

Someone let me know when they adapt Afterlife with Archie Well they are adapting the new Sabrina series and apparently it'll be in universe with Riverdale. That'll be amazing. So far I'm enjoying the new series. Archie has gone a bit wacky but I think I get it. Jughead's development has been great. Also Cheryl.... Just Cheryl.

Okay i'm intrigued now because even tho it isn't finished I think they could do a decent adaption of Afterlife with Archie and stretch it out I know I saw a picture of a zombied version of Jughead I believe and I thought they could consider that route considering the show Riverdale is built around mystery from what I understand I proposed before a few months back you can do a season of Afterlife with Archie as a what if scenario and even tie it in to a Supernatural episode since they always have a wacky episode per season

Kevin educating Betty on straight privilege during tonight's episode gave me life.
Cheryl may be my favorite character overall. I love how she inflicts her twisted worldview onto her peers at random while dabbling in emotional blackmailing to meet unclear personal ends.

Late to the party on this one but I just binged it on Netflix. Holy shit I love this show.
I assumed they would drag out the black hood story over the whole season but nope. This show is paced really well and doesn't have filler episodes.
Either Jughead or Cheryl is my favourite character but honestly I like everyone on the show which is kind of rare for me.

I don't care if she is 40-something years old, they should've just brought back Melissa Joan Hart. But seriously, seeing them compare this new Sabrina to The Exorcist or Rosemary's Baby, and trying to reconcile that with the last Sabrina series, is giving me whiplash.

I know nothing with any kind of certainty, but I don't think the Black Hood storyline is over. It's just a little too easy, and there's a reason they reminded you that Archie said his eyes weren't right episodes earlier.
