I tend to really enjoy audio commentaries, especially when they provide good looks into the making of a film. There are some that go amazingly in-depth and others where those involved are trying to trudge through as quickly as possible....but I feel like I just enjoy nonsense more than anything. Deep Blue Sea has the cast assembled and is pretty good, with a solid, legitimate laugh joke in the middle when {Spoiler}Samuel L Jackson immediately leaves the moment he's eaten The Hudson Hawk commentary has the director up-front say he won't talk about any bad issues on set, which makes me wonder even more what happened on that set. The Anchorman crew doing a commentary in character was hilarious when I was younger. Perhaps a sign of the movie's 'success' Special effects supervisor Volker Engel is the only person to show up for a commentary of 1998's Godzilla film. It wasn't very interesting, sadly. And then there are things like...The commentary for Jack-o featuring Producer Fred Olen Ray and Director Steve Latshaw sniping back at each other is infamous for it's last 15 minutes where the two men get into an argument and the director storms out before returning to defend his film again. Also, discussions about working in clips of John Carradine so he could be credited despite being dead for nearly a decade. I'd link to it (It's on YouTube) but it features a Linnea Quigley shower scene which sparks a small fight about her forced nudity. So are there any interesting, funny, or awkward commentaries anyone can suggest?

I hear the 'Elvis' commentary for the movie "Bubba Ho-Tep" is hilarious... I have it, haven't watched it with that commentary. Yet. It's on the list. (It's a long list).
I watched "Cannibal: The Musical" and flipped between the regular audio and the 'drunk' commentary track, and it's pretty funny.
The only really awkward one I've heard was a piece from the original "The Hills Have Eyes", where Wes Craven asks someone else about a scene and that person refused to answer... it was the scene where the family finds the body of one of their dogs, so it makes me wonder about what happened with that scene...

Arnold Schwarzenegger did one for Total Recall that sounds hilarious in how bad it was. He basically just describes what's happening on screen.

The only commentary that I like is for "UHF".

'Community' has some of the best and worst commentary tracks, depends who is doing it.
Dan Harmon is a perfectionist, and sometimes he spots continuity errors in the episodes and gets pissed off. And he gets really annoyed at the episode when the gang go into Pierce's father's 8-bit VR .. Cause he can't think of anything to talk about cause he did not do the animation sequences. Also that was the episode I think that the whole Chevy Chase incident went down.

The commentaries on the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings are all excellent. I especially love the design commentaries.
John Carpenter and Kurt Russell's commentaries on Escape From New York and Big Trouble in Little China are great - they tell some nice behind-the-scenes stories, and it feels very conversational throughout both.
The Mallrats commentary is hilarious, with Ben Affleck in particularly fine form.
Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes spend a lot of time riffing on the lesser elements of Star Trek: Insurrection. Makes the film far more enjoyable.
Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back's commentary gets really uncomfortable about halfway through when Jason Mewes, at the time in the middle of a serious heroin addiction, goes to the bathroom and comes back high as a kite.

Conan The Barbarian is the best. The director creepily jerks off over the girl and Arnold clearly does not remember filming the movie outside of the guy with the big hammer.

In terms of bad commentary, for me, the winner and champion is on the DVD and blu-Ray of Twilight Zone Seaon Five on an episode called Last Night of the Jockey. Mickey Rooney is interviewed and it gets uncomfortable in a hurry as he proceeds to go off on everything wrong with today's culture and media. After that, mostly downhill.
As for best... I lean toward the myriad of commentaries for the Lord of the Rings movies. Either the cast commentary (esp. Christopher Lee) or the director/writer commentaries are the best in my mind.

Tropic Thunder. Robert Downey Jr. changes persona based on whoever he is playing on screen.

Bruce Campbell's commentary for Evil Dead is pretty great, such as "And this is where we lose half the audience" during the tree scene.
The commentary for the animated Clerks series is great, particularly because of the insight provided into why it was as much of a clusterf*** behind the scenes as it was.

Venture Brothers always have great entertaining commentary, even if 80% of the time they are not talking about what's on screen.

One of the worst for me is Mel Brooks on Young Frankenstein, he spends a lot of it just watching the movie, and a lot of the rest explaining the jokes, I was expecting something much better.
The best ones in general I find are cast ones where everyone's just having fun, Red Dwarf commentaries I can almost watch on their own.
I have a third category though, just weird ones. The Wayne's World director commentary is just a bit odd, with the director making up stuff like hanging out in the 70s with Matt Groening when he came up with the Simpsons.

The actors' commentary for "Torque" is among the best I have ever heard. There were about 10 people on that commentary. Also, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor provided hilarious commentary for "Crank: High Voltage."

The Saw commentary is great. It's just Leigh Whannel, James Wan, and Cary Elwes cracking jokes and riffing on their movie.

Stallones commentaries on rocky, rocky balboa and first blood are lovely
The documentary "anvil" has the most obnoxious commentary ever. All the director says is "yeah this guy was AMAZING. Oh this guy here was AMAZING. This guys was a lot of fun, he was AMAZING. This lady here is an AMAZING person."
I turned it off and frowned.

Arnold Schwarzenegger did one for Total Recall that sounds hilarious in how bad it was. He basically just describes what's happening on screen. Same as Conan. "HAHA HEARE I AM AND DIS SWORD IS NOW MY SWORD. LOOK HOW I CHOP DA GUYS HEAD OFF DEYRE. NOW VE ARE RUNNING. I VALK UP TO HIM DEAYRE AND STAB HIM, YES HAHA."

Arnold Schwarzenegger did one for Total Recall that sounds hilarious in how bad it was. He basically just describes what's happening on screen. Every Arnold commentary is amazing because he's like an 8 year old watching the movie for the first time. The commentary for the animated Clerks series is great, particularly because of the insight provided into why it was as much of a clusterf*** behind the scenes as it was. This and the Mr. Show commentaries are generally the only ones that I can listen to the commentary on multiple times. Not sure where to classify this but Matt Groening refused to talk during the Critic episode of the Simpsons.

There was an Arnold commentary for a movie where he talked about the actors and all the stupid shit they did and barely said a thing about the movie.
I think it might have been Conan the Destroyer but I'm not sure.
