Never been to Vegas, but figured the ROH Anniversary show and my new residence in LA would make for a good enough reason to check it out.
I want all of your Vegas suggestions and, if applicable, your traveling from LA to Vegas tips, please.

As your attorney I advise you to rent a fast car with no top.
Also I've heard Baker, CA has excellent seafood. Excellent, excellent seafood.

I loved the Red Rocks Canyon. I was out there three or four times, a lot of trails and places to just stop and think. My Dad loved going up on Mt. Charleston, never did that myself though.
Hoover Dam is right there, maybe 30 minutes away and is just awe-inspiring. Even if you don't want to go to the actual dam, there is pull off, hike up and get right on the state line and look down at the Dam that was free. Fremont Experience was cool. I think sundown was the best time since you can see the lights as well as some of the other things in the area but not a part of the Experience.
The Strip is neat but a headache to get around. I'd say get a driver so you don't have to worry about getting shoved into the roads or hitting someone trying to get a picture.
Unless you're a huge fan of the History Channel shows or really want to the see drive thru wedding places, I'd avoid that area.

Stay away from the strip unless you want to go sight seeing, because traffic can be a bitch to get through.

Since you're going in February, the drive shouldn't be too bad. It'll still be long(approx. 4 to 5 hours) and wicked boring as once you get past Fontana on the 15, there's practically nothing until you get to Vegas. By the way, there are portions of the 15 freeway that are two lanes, so if there's some type of accident or delay, be ready to wait awhile.
Also, it is February, so it is pretty chilly in Vegas. Bring sweaters and sweatpants.

This is all great, I really appreciate it.
Any of you ever tried taking the bus from LA to Las Vegas? I've seen round trip as low as $25-$40 bucks and figured perhaps once I get there I could just walk unless needing Uber when absolutely necessary. Is it very pedestrian friendly?

Taking a bus would not be a bad idea. The Strip is pretty pedestrian friendly. The only downside is the crosswalks and people cosntantly bothering you to take the business cards/pamphlets of local escorts/strip clubs. The only thing I would recommend is getting a hotel near where the ROH show is taking place so you don't have to walk that much.

On your way back, do not stop at the Primm casinos for gas. These are the final stops for food and gas and once you get off the interstate, getting back on takes forever depending on the time and day.
Be careful about weather. With El Nino, the Cajon Pass is full of snow and landslides. Just be glad you weren't there last year when we had the fire that destroyed all those cars.

Id do a bus, or flight myself. Or have someone else drive, so I can drink in the back seat. Depending what time you leave, and from where in So Cal exactly you're leaving from, you're looking at 3.5-4.5 hours one way. It's not too bad, and there are a few rest stops and what not. Driving on the strip kinda sucks, but everything is pretty much within walking distance, unless you're staying in Fremont District and the stuff you want to see is on the Strip. Also, encore, Wynn, and Treasure Island are fun, but they are at the north end of the strip; mostly everything is ahappening down by Planet Hollywood and New York New York. That's a looooong walk. I'd recommend a taxi, but know that they are pricey. Hmm... what else... try to skip traffic time here in So Cal, so it doesn't add on to the drive. There's nothing to really do, unless you want to stop at a diner or get some alien jerky on the way. I'd recommend loading up on drinks, snacks, and what have you for the drive out there. An ice chest, too. If you do the bus, it'll take longer, but you won't have to worry about gas or driving or getting tired. The only downside is the crosswalks and people cosntantly bothering you to take the business cards/pamphlets of local escorts/strip clubs. When I went in November, they were passing out night club passes and not the usual escort stuff.

If you want to mix it up, come to Palm Springs first (two hours from LA) then take the three-hour shortcut through the Mojave Desert. I swear by that route.

It's been brought up, but the only time you should drive to the strip is if your hotel is there.Walking the strip and popping in and out of the hotels for a drink(s) is half the fun.

Hash House a Go Go has amazing breakfasts.
For the Strip, there's a shuttle that goes up and down it, get a day pass and if you aren't gambling, you'll probably be able to see it all in a day. Fremont Street is much cooler to me

Don't leave for Vegas on Friday afternoon. The traffic is horrible and it adds hours to the trip.

Fun stuff you can do for free in Las Vegas:
Watch the volcano at the Mirage Watch the fountains at Bellagio See the Roman gods show in the Forum Shops at Caesar's Catch the laser light show at Sam's Town out on Boulder Highway. See the giant aquariums, waterfalls and the Bass Pro Shop at the Silverton a bit south of the strip. Check out the cactus garden and free factory tour at Ethel M's Chocolates See the 4d movie at the M&M store. Visit the flamingos at the Flamingo Check out Fremont Street at night.

-Check out the Adventure Dome at Circus Circus (and go again around October if you can, because then it becomes the Fright Dome). -See the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur, a Medieval Times show. -Do the Slotzilla zipline at the Fremont Street Experience. -Right around Slotzilla is the Heart Attack Grill (Cornette reviewed this place on his blog). Really good burger with hilarious medical theme. -If you're looking for a show, I highly recommend Penn and Teller (at the Rio). -I tried to find the facility at Caesar's they used for Wrestlemania IX (it wasn't the Colosseum; that was built almost a decade later), but I think that was a temporary facility that was long gone.
-Paris has the best buffet in town, from all regions of France.
