Dana Carvey was actually seen as the breakout star coming out of the Wayne's World movie and a lot of people saw him as the next big comedic actor. Then two high profile mega failures in "The Dana Carvey Show" and "Master of Disguise" completely derailed his career and he quickly got outshined by his former SNL and Wayne's World co-star Mike Meyers. I know he's resurfaced recently with a couple of bit parts, I think he did a credit card commercial with Kevin Nealon resurrecting Hanz and Franz, but before that he had almost completely disappeared for nearly a decade. Wiki says he stepped out of the limelight due to wanting to be there for his family. Also, he had multiple heart surgeries (and one of which was botched), so that could have contributed too. To add, until recently it seemed like Michael Keaton disappeared after Jack Frost or so. Michael Keaton retired so he could be a regular dad for his son. Now that his son is grown, he's working again.

Master of Disguise was supposed to be his comeback. He did largely forgotten Clean Slate, his big starring role after Wayne's World movies. He took a break to take care of his kids and Master of Disguise was supposed to capitalize on Michael Myers/Austin Powers popularity. Like if you liked Wayne's whacky characters, wait till you see Garth's.

Now that his son is grown, he's working again. He worked consistantly in films even before Birdman. They were just supporting roles in movies like Herbie or First Daughter. It was less his decision than he was getting older and the roles he was offered were dad or authority roles except for the indy lead like Game 6.

John Deacon of Queen. Ever since he retired in 1997, he has refused to appear with the group for anything including notable events like the Olympics in 2012 and the group's induction into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Brian May has said that Deacon doesn't really contact him and Roger Taylor anymore except for financial matters, and that he pretty much is a broken man these days. What do you mean by "broken man"? I thought Deacon was happily retired.

I can actually understand guys like Brendan Fraser and Chris Tucker just disappearing.
If you make $10 million for 10 weeks work, why keep working until you're a senior citizen? Once you stop enjoying yourself... stop doing it. Take tiny roles, lower profile roles, no roles at all... whatever floats your boat.

Seems like Tom Green disappeared after his MTV shoe was done and his marriage to Drew Barrymore ended

Anthony Michael Hall. Last i saw him was playing the villain of the week on the short-lived "No Ordinary Family". I know he was considered a punchline because of the 1985-86 season of SNL, but you'd think he could still get some decent acting gigs (that season didnt seem to hurt the careers of the other actors from that season, all of whom had steady work post-SNL).

Phoebe Cates was in several hit movies in the 80's and 90's.....
....and then she just walked away to concentrate on her family.

Whatever happened to Geena Davis? She used to be in movies, but now she's not in movies anymore. She's attractive enough but when she smiles you see too much gum. Not a good tooth-to-gum ratio.

John Deacon wrote some of the most well know (and better) Queen songs, (with bohemian rhapsody being the exception cos they all worked on that) but yeah, you're my best friend, another one bites the dust, i want to break free, under pressure, the show must go one, miracle, don't stop me now, we are the champions, we will rock you, someone to love, stone cold crazy.....and a tonne more. i think by "Broken Man" Brian may mean, "he likes to stay at home and count his money"

I'd say Rick Astley. Dude was a massive star in the UK and was making inroads in the US. The story is he was just in a car going to an event, he just told them to stop, got out and gave it all up. He came back with the whole Rickroll thing, but he had the talent to be MASSIVE at the time. He's got a radio show on UK station Magic FM, so he's still in public eye of sorts. He's just not got the same profile he had in the late 80s. Does the name Erin Moran mean anything? She played Joanie Cunningham in Happy Days and the short lived Joanie Loves Chachi, and then fell off the face of the Earth.

I love that urban legend about Joanie Loves Chachi being the most popular show ever in Korea, but in Korea, Chachi supposedly translates to penis.

Seems like Tom Green disappeared after his MTV show was done and his marriage to Drew Barrymore ended I'll co-sign this one. "The Bum Bum Song (Lonely Swedish)" is one of those inexplicably odd earworms that get stuck in your head at the most random of times. I watched the video, which of course got my kids wondering what in the heck I was viewing. 4 minutes about a guy rubbing his bum (bum-bum) on stuff. It was silly, it had no point. Which was about right for the time.

Tucker is definitely in great financial shape, but Fraser is badly struggling.

He never dealt with fame very well.
