Well, it's been a month and four Smackdown's called by Mauro Ranallo aka M.R.
So what is everyone's opinion on him? The thing I liked is that thanks to him, Lawler has been turned heel and it seems like he is quite reinvigorated.
I'd give him a solid B, but I want him to call a pay per view so I can truly rate him on the big stage. I guess he's going to be on Smackdown for a good for years before moving onto a pay per view or Raw.

Aside from a couple of things he said that made me wonder if Cole got a voice change (because they were hair tearing dumb), he's doing fine. A-

A. I expected him to come in, be the best announcer in the company, and make Smackdown a better show. He's done those things.

B+
He's great at calling matches and storytelling, but he's terrible at responding to the other announcers, he never calls King on any of the heelish things he says, instead he just doesn't respond.
He's good but still has some way to go
, I'd like him to be paired up with JBL who would probably give him more of a hard time than King which would force him to start bickering with him a bit.

Is there a "REPLACE THE ENTIRE RAW COMMENTARY TEAM NOW" Grade?

My guess is he doesn't respond because of the risk of King getting pissy backstage that a "junior" is trying to show him up. That's just my guess though, no idea what Lawler is like backstage. Judging by some of the shit you hear about this company it wouldn't be surprising.

I'd also like him to start shutting Lawler down a little bit more, but he's sooooo much better than anything else the company has it's not funny.

A. Only reason I didn't go with A+ is I want a little more dialogue with Lawler's heel comments.

He makes it feel more like a sports broadcast as opposed to an entertainment show. That's why I love his work.

I gave him an A. I think he might still feel a tad tentative about where he can go with his commentary but I so love the dynamic between Mauro & the King. Feels great to see Jerry Lawler as a heel again.

He's about an A for me now, I'm hoping he develops some of his own quirks and catchphrases that are not completely annoying every time you hear them.

Honestly you should probably ask this question again if he ever calls Raw or a PPV because I wouldn't be surprised if a fair few people on here have never heard him.
