What are some of your favorite movies set in this backdrop. I think looper was a great semi futuristic movie that still felt tangible.

Fifth Element is a fun example. It's not my favorite film in it, but it has an interesting take on that premise.

Can we go post-apocolyptic? If so, Fury Road has become one of my favorite films, of all time.

My favorite future stuff ever is whenever they show the human resistance fighting Terminators. I actually really dug Salvation because of this. Even though the plot kind of sucked I really liked the concept and atmosphere.
Aliens deserves a mention also.

Original Robocop all day, every day.
Also a big fan of Equilibrium, despite its many flaws.

Logan's Run has to be one of my all time favorite futuristic movie. I really wanted that remake Bryan Singer was supposed to get off the ground.

Robocop's only failure in predicting future Detroit was that it wasn't grim enough.

Not a movie per se, but Cowboy Bebop did a pretty interesting job with this idea. Ghost in the Shell, too.
As far as live action films go, I mean...TIME COP. Doesn't get any more 100% accurate than that. Also, Overdrawn at the Memory Bank & Future War....
The Island was overall dumb as shit, but still pretty cool "future"-ish looking stuff.
I think GAMER doesn't really go far enough into the future to make it that much different, but I thought it was an interesting look at how technology/culture intermingles in the future.
