Monday's episode of WWE RAW, featuring Daniel Bryan's retirement speech in the main event slot, drew 3.726 million viewers. This is up from last week's 3.383 million viewers but down from the over 4 million they drew for the post-Royal Rumble episode two weeks ago.
For this week's show, the first hour drew 3.907 million viewers, the second hour drew 3.905 million viewers and the final hour drew 3.368 million viewers.
RAW was #1 for the night in viewership and #1 for the night in the 18-49 demographic.

Wonder if the overrun (he came out one minute after the show was supposed to end I think?) is included in hr 3?

Wonder if the overrun (he came out one minute after the show was supposed to end I think?) is included in hr 3? It is. The numbers come from ShowBuzzDaily. If you go to the "Top 50 Original Cable Telecasts" chart, #4 is the third hour, with a listed duration of 86 minutes.

Not gonna lie I thought Bryan would have broke 4 million. I'm not. Most people I've talked to didn't know he retired until this morning. Bryan only let people know midday yesterday so it makes sense.

That Hour 3, even with the overrun factored in, is stunning to me. Either the number was REALLY poor before Bryan came out, or he just wasn't that big of a draw. Really thought fans would call other fans and use social media to let everyone know that he was on to make that announcement. WWE were practically telling everyone that he would be on.

I'd wager it was piss poor until Bryan's segment. Lesnar/Ambrose was done and there was f*** all talked about outside of Bryan and people are smart enough to know he wasn't going in the middle of the hour.

It's a little surprising, but it shouldn't be really.
Daniel Bryan was never presented as being on the level of guys like Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair who have previously had retirement segments on Raw. Even Edge was pushed a lot harder for a lot longer.
Bryan's run as a true main eventer only lasted from what, 2012-2014? Even then he spent a lot of that time teaming with Kane.

Once again, it doesn't matter what they put in the third hour. Ratings drop hundreds of thousands of viewers 95% of the time regardless.

If it wasn't announced the same day, but last week or over the weekend a lot more people would have tuned into Bryan. Nothing will convince me otherwise.

I'd imagine a big part of it's people tuning out then tuning back in for the Bryan segment, and also how they didn't actually send him out there until the overrun meaning a lot of people were probably already ready for bed. The only thing outside of the Bryan segment being hyped for the end was just, "New Day, Usos, and Dudleys in a tag tables match because.... Um..." with every real hook for the show having already been blown through.

I mean.....tbh, WWE put the speech on its youtube channel like 15 mins after it was on RAW, so why sit through 2.75 hours of usual RAW just to see something you can watch on youtube that night or the next morning?
Retirement's a big deal, esp for a guy like Bryan, but part of it he's been off screen for a while now and basically been a non-factor for nearly 2 years. Why WWE kept him off screen for so long, I'll never know (aside from wanting a surprise pop if he was able to return to active wrestling). So its not a huge shocker the rating didn't exactly jump up for this, as emotional as it was. The other part is that WWE waited too late (again) to really put over what a big deal Bryan's been to the company and they REALLY were in a hurry to retire him on screen for some reason. They could have built it up for a couple weeks at least to get more attention, but I dunno. My point is, it can't be that big of a surprise the numbers were BAU for RAW.
