Ideally I would have it as a presenting sponsor, something like "Monster Energy presents the NASCAR Cup Series"

I read somewhere, I think Jayski, that one fallout from the lack of a sponsor for the cup series is that Lionel Collectibles has had to go with a plain NASCAR logo on it's diecast cars they are getting ready for next year's Daytona 500.

Very James Hunt of him. I can't really fault him for it but it definitely came the hell out of nowhere.

So, what are the sponsors' issues with "cup" anyway?
Suppose it makes the series sound not "metropolitan" enough? Too "redneck" for corporate big-city tastes?

It's a good decision from Rosberg. He's finally world champ, he's rich, he's healthy and he has a family to take care of.

I don't blame Rosberg for retiring. He's finally won the championship and has nothing more to prove. Plus it's Formula 1 and even though the safety is much better these days, every race he completes without incident is one race closer to the one that ends his career (or worse).

Good for him. He has nothing else to prove, and maybe he may have found it hard to get motivated for another go at it now he's won it. And he's got a family to care for as well, and with the recent racing deaths of Jules Bianchi and Justin Wilson in mind, that could have sealed the deal for him.
Who replaces him now, though? You'd think it'd probably be Wehrlein given he's been in the Mercedes system for a few years now and is available for next season.

The most annoying thing is he's probably the best driver around and is an absolute master in the rain, he's also driving the best car in Formula 1. Yet he feels like he has to piss and moan about everything and cry about reliability. He's won for the past two years and reliability has been a huge part of that, so sooner or later he was going to have more breakdowns than usual. This year, it caught up with him.

I wonder if Jenson Button might have 2nd thoughts about leaving F1 now that a Mercedes Seat is available.. Old team mates reunited and back to the team He won his title with back in 2009.
Personally I'd like to see Pascal Wehrlein get the seat, he showed his potential at Manor and there is only so much you can do in that team.

It's a disease with British racing drivers:

Mansell was the exact same when he raced in the BTCC in '1998
Even if he did have that awesome wet race at Donington Park.
