He's right on the money when he says segments have to effect every character. They're paying him, might as well listen to some of his input

I know it's been said before but damn WWE sounds like a horrid place to work It's REALLY strange. WWE will bend over backwards for any celebrity who's willing to spend 10 minutes on RAW to shill whatever project they're working. But if a celebrity like Landis or Freddy or whoever else actually works FOR them? "What's Mr. Hollywood think he knows about THIS BIZNISS?! Smile, nod, and tell him to go the **** away." It's because they're insular carny fame leeches.

Sorry, but I can't still get over the fact that he glossed over why HHH was the biggest heel of 2000. He talked so much about HHH, but how you can overlook the storyline angle where HHH hired Rikishi to steal The Rock's rental car keys to run down Stone Cold Steve Austin, just so he can keep his WWF Championship title; and at the same time frame the crime on the #2 star. Keep in mind everyone hated HHH for this because Stone Cold was the #1 guy in the WWF, nobody's drawn as much as a crowd since the Hogan days, and HHH took him out for an entire year (kayfabe.)
-nope, I'm just going to mention how HHH cheats in matches for 10 minutes.

Even though he said that his stuff wasn't listened to much, I still feel like contributing to WWE creative in any capacity over the past year is a secret that you'd take to the grave.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me WWE would hire a guy to give them ideas and input then subsequently ignore them.

You've got to imagine that any consultant role with WWE would basically be "Um, how about if you push the characters that fans cheer for and cut back on the stuff that's never gotten over?" only to met with blank stares from all on the other side of the table.
Oh! Vince! You know how you love Hollywood? Deadpool. Deadpool is what happens when you give fans what THEY want, rather than trying to get your own ideas over.

Whatever keeps him from writing movies and making videos. No wonder Roman Reigns is booked like such a "Marty Sue" (paraphrasing) at the moment. It all makes sense now

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me WWE would hire a guy to give them ideas and input then subsequently ignore them. With that excerpt in the op it makes sense of what I feel is the biggest problem in the WWE. It's that they go against the common sense way of telling stories as if no one has better ideas than them. If there is a chance that anyone has a better idea than the upper brass it could be shut down so an outsider can't take credit for their show's improvement. But they take it to the next level and hire that person to ignore.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me WWE would hire a guy to give them ideas and input then subsequently ignore them. I'm willing to bet they're basically paying him to not make more videos about wrestling, calling him a creative "consultant".

This is the same guy that said that the death of Superman was the first time comic book death was invoked. Despite Jean Gray dying and returning at least twice by that point. (as well as comic book death being a pretty huge joke by that point in general) Max Landis doesn't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Knowing the type of guy Landis is, before even reading I thought "They wouldn't listen to a guy like him" and he says the exact thing.
Im conflicted about Landis. I think he's kinda brilliant at times but I thought American Ultra sucked as a story. And I've argued with him on Reddit about Age of Ultron not being a shitty film.
His wrestling video was awesome though.

I think as a movie guy he's overated as hell to be honest. His Wrestling video is basically his claim to fame and it was basically making fun of WWE?
Yeah, not surprised WWE would want him as a consultant.
Considering how WWE has been the past few months, I would not wanna outright admit to being involved in that shit show

GUYS I JUST FIGURED IT OUT.
He's obviously a consultant for the Edge & Christian Show. I feel like WWE couldn't be this creative with their own writing team.

I'm sad that Triple H didn't yell out "I'M THE BEST AT WRESTLING" during that beatdown on Roman.

His new film with Sam Rockwell and Anna Faris looks pretty good.
But yeah, WWE's "creative" hiring practices seem to mirror their on-screen talent hiring practices.
Hire people with no real clue how to utilize them and then wonder why nothing ever changes.
I like that Landis is at least like, "Yeah, I didn't think they'd listen to me and they don't, but I'll keep cashing that pay check!"

Consultant seems like such a pointless job in WWE. Vince doesn't even listen to his own children and son-in-law when they have objections. Why would anyone bother with an indirectl role knowing that?
