Someone from work set me up with her friend. Well I got her number and finally called her today and asked her to do something. Wanted minigolf but the place I wanted to go to doesn't have it set up yet (another 2-3 weeks which was after the 2-3 weeks I heard last time) so I suggest movie. First time I see her see's alright nothing incredible but still good. We get there with some chit chat in the car ride there little too much silence for me but ok any way. We get there and we come in at a time where all the movies have either started or won't start for another half an hour plus (unless we wanted to see the Grudge 2 NOOO). So we go out to a dinner to eat since she didn't. More talk to learn she fights with her father alot, mother is a drug addict for 4 years and hasn't talked to her in 4 months *yikes. So we go to a diner eat more talk alright than. Go to her house that she lives with her cousins with and sit on the couch and watch some Tv as she tries to call her mom who won't pick up the phone or something.
Take the her talk out on a walk since it needed it, some more talk better than what we had so far. Go back watch TV as she tries to call friend or mom or something. So silence for a while watching tv. Than we go walk to meet one of her friends which she meets half way between their houses. Talk some more on the way learn she is a wrestling fan *yes. Meet her friend than I turn into a third wheel than go back to her house where her cousins and friends or boy friends or something. I feel akward around a big group that I don't seem to know well. So I plant the seeds to leave that I had work early (I do). She really didn't see me out down the stairs just out of the apartment.
Well that's my verbose summary.

Do you plan to go out again?

Sounds so/so to be honest. Do you plan to go out again? Yea. I guess. If it goes the same way the second time I might not. Who knows.

You should have just stuck your tongue down her throat. That's always a good icebreaker.

Bah, I was supposed to have a date tonight. Rescheduled at the last minute, right after the Mets lost last night. Insult to injury, nice.

I seem to have been semi-stood up tonight as well... on the road with my football team, had plans to meet up with this lady friend that I've talked to online and on the phone for about a month now. I called when we got here to the hotel, she was about 10 minutes away. 2 and a half hours later, no phone call saying she's here at the hotel. I just tried her again a little while ago and got no answer so I left her a message just asking what the plan was, since this whole thing was sort of an informal wing-it-and-try-to-meet-up-if-we-can thing. I just hope she didn't find herself in some crazy bad situation or something and wasn't able to call me.
Not to hijack your thread, just sharing a somewhat similar sob story.

Getting drunk out of your mind and convincing her to watch you robot dance for around an hour, with brief interludes of discussing which member of Team Zissou she would be will never work, ever. suprisingly. as she'll only run off with the most tedious out of town moron ever.

C'est la vie. At least I got a night out with my buds and a couple pints of Sam Adams from it all. WE'LL GET 'EM NEXT YEAR!

Groups/friends ALWAYS ruin a date...also I despise cell phones since it creates a gate for them to not pay attention. I find that tying them up and stuffing them in the crawlspace is a good way to keep a dates attention.
