Has anyone being able to prevent the collapse of society yet? I've tried from various, more obscure places and the shit hits the fan as soon as I need to choose a destination to flee too. That's another assumption I question. You have a community that's being devastated by a known contagious and deadly disease and it's reached the point where there's rioting, food and supply shortages and the military having to be called in to maintain order. Why on Earth are the airports still open? Don't get me wrong, I can completely see how plane flights can inadvertently spread the disease worldwide, but that's before the chaos starts and the person doesn't realize he's sick yet, not after. I tried running this with some really isolated and obscure locations like Barrow, Alaska and Greenland, but the simulator doesn't seem to want to work for them.

Yeah, the more I play around with it, the more it's clear that the game is making some serious leaps of logic and idiot ball-carrying to make the collapse work. Granted, it only makes sense since it's ultimately a promotional gimmick for a game set post-collapse, but I'm already seeing people on my FB taking this at full scientific face value.

Isn't smallpox supposed to be eradicated? Supposedly there are only two known batches of live Smallpox virus in the world right now, one kept in the CDC in Atlanta, the other in its Russian counterpart. Every so often rumblings and urban legends start up about the Russian batch being missing and maybe stolen.

Yeah I tried with the most isolated island in the world, Tristan Da Cunha and it wouldn't let me. Even starting with Senegal and picking an airport destination elsewhere in Africa which isn't really a hub or connection to major airports still ended with the end of the world. Think it's impossible to beat the system.

Pretty much that's what happens. I went to the least populace city in the United states (Buford, Wyoming) and basically nothing happened. It forces you to go to a highly populated center via airplane.
