Notice that this year's Wrestlemania appears to be heavily influenced by NXT and independent wrestling. Here's the list of confirmed and perceived matches (as compiled by Excellence of Execution).
Triple H v Reigns Ambrose v Lesnar Shane O'Mac v Undertaker Charlotte v Banks v Lynch Owens v Zayn (v others?) Kalisto v Ryback (v others?) New Day v League Of Nations Styles v Jericho Bella (and others?) v Lana (and others?) Andre Battle Royal
The main event involves an NXT alumnus facing the guy leading that brand. In fact, just about every other match features an NXT favorite or internet darling. The only omission is Shane/Undertaker, which already makes little sense and is on its own level of weird.
Also note that Wrestlemania does not feature John Cena, Randy Orton or your favorite local men, Big Show and Kane. Granted, other faves like Rollins and Cesaro also are missing, but my point still stands.
I know the usual routine is to complain about WWE giving everyone false hope before returning to its usual formula. But for now, let's all enjoy this perceived direction and look forward to things to come.

Barring HHH vs Sting, every match at 31 had an former NXT wrestler participate.

I said it in another thread but I think, on paper, this Mania looks a lot better than last year's.

well it is thei developmental system after all, and exists since almost 4 years...
nevertheless, the 3 top matches have no real NXT alumni (Ambrose never appeared on a NXT show, Reigns only had like 3 squash matches and 2 tiny promo segments), also because of Rollins' and Cesaro's injuries
let's hope Owens vs Zayn remains a single contest, still enough time to build up their match and show their storied past to new fans

The only thing that would make it better is if they added a Money in the Bank Ladder Match with NXT guys (since there aren't enough healthy guys on the active roster to pull it off). That will be the one thing I will miss this year since it has been a tradition since WrestleMania 21 in 2005.

I am cautiously optimistic about this.
Honestly, even the matches that I would never have booked in a million years have something. The crowd reaction for Triple H/Reigns is going to be something. And Shane O'Mac vs. Taker will be an entertaining train wreck.
The rest of it I am actually excited to see.

The undercard is shaping up nicely, it just sucks that the two biggest matches revolve around the Attitude Era.

Like WWE should try to get all the "name talents" in actual matches so that the Battle Royal can be entirely main roster lower card + NXT talents.

Outside of the main event, this show sounds pretty interesting.

But all they're doing is holding down new talent and bring back the retirement home guys! Outrage!
Seriously, it's looking good.

Lots of guys getting their first Wrestlemania experience in this year, which is cool. Owens, Zayn, Styles, Neville, Kalisto, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch... Lana?!

But all they're doing is holding down new talent and bring back the retirement home guys! Outrage! Seriously, it's looking good. Triple H and Brock Lesnar are still in the main events and people are still being held down even with newer talents being pushed. Also the fact that they had to bring in Shane McMahon, who until recently had completely washed his hands of wrestling, shows me that they don't have complete faith in the roster. And there's still the possibility that they'd have some random time waster promo at Mania involving an old timer.
