I've not seen much NXT. I know there a lots of guys there that I enjoyed tremendously on the indies and, from what I hear, there is a much bigger emphasis on the actual wrestling (which is what I enjoy), but not much else about it.
So, as a new subscriber to the WWE network, I want to check it out, but where should I start? What is the one show that will hook me for life?

Honestly I say you start at the very first NXT Arrival. If not that one then start on NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way. Amazing shows.

I adore takeover London but takeover Brooklyn is awesome too. Arrival is also a great show. none of the specials disappoint.

The one where Bryan shoots on Miz. He's all 'I'm a better wrestler than you!!!' and they cut to the pros where CM Punk nudges Regal and holds his hands out in front of him (and quite far apart) and says "By a LOT!"

To catch up on NXT just watch all of the specials, then from the most recent TakeOver watch the weekly episodes.
If you only want one though, TakeOver Brooklyn.

If you gotta go with one then Takeover [R]Evolution. Not a dud match on the card.

[R]Evolution without a question as a one off. I'd say it's probably better to start with Arrival though and work your way through the specials because that will give you a better idea of the story being told and make [R]Evolution mean more when you do get to watch it. [R]Evolution was the pinnacle of NXT. Not that it's not great now but that was the absolute peak of anything they've ever done, it was perfect.

The way NXT operates, the special next week is the perfect spot to jump in. The card gets almost all of the main players in the picture, some of which are going to the main roster soon. And, after this show, the angles are pretty much going to reset.
Just know that the weekly shows aren't blow away like the specials. They keep the angles going and sprinkle in title matches and great main events here and there, and there's also a lot of squashes. They remind me a lot of pre-attitude era Raws.

I say that as someone who wasn't watching NXT much until that moment. That was the first big event I saw and I was hooked afterwards. Went back, saw the rest and it worked. I'm trying to think of "why" it worked but I distinctly remember popping for the Lucha Dragons and that main event. It was easy to get into.

I thought Respect was the best Takeover special, but London, Brooklyn, and R Evolution were all good too.

I'm more partial to the one where Johnny Curtis did a ribbon dance and Byron Saxton read us a fairy tale.

I looked and saw that there were only a few shows before Arrival, so I just started at the first posted show.
I gotta say, I've really enjoyed it so far, with one exception: Emma annoys the ever loving f*** out of me. The stupid dance, the announcers yelling about bubbles, and the fact that her ringwork is just really...awkward, I guess is the best way to put it.
Beyond that, I'm REALLY enjoying it. I love the squash matches. It reminds me of when I was young. You know these guys are about to get messed the hell up. The joy is seeing how bad it gets.

Takeover Arrivial or the 2/3 falls on the weekly show? The 2/3 is the better of the two IMO. Both are great though.

Arrival. What a story they told. 2 of the best AT their best. I gotta hunt down the 2/3 falls match.
