I was told that a lot of the LU guys brought in from AAA were Midcard guys who weren't doing much in Mexico. How true is this? Did these guys get pushed after they got over in LU? Are there giant stars in AAA that don't get booked in LU? Sorry for all the questions but I'm bored at work and know next to nothing about the Mexican scene Guys like Fenix, Pentagon, Drago and others were basically just extra bodies on the AAA roster at the time. Konnan brought them into Lucha Underground as they were guys he was wanting to build AAA around at the time. When they got brought into LU and exposed to American audiences, they stock shot up through the roof and became in demand with many promoters. But despite how over they've become, AAA still just saw them as nothing more than enhancement talent and overlooked them in favor of The Clowns and Pagano. Wasn't Pagano just some indie guy though? How'd he get signed and pushed so quickly?

Can somebody explain why AAA values the Clowns so much? None of them are good workers in any capacity.

Can somebody explain why AAA values the Clowns so much? None of them are good workers in any capacity. The Psycho Circus are popular. At least until the other 2 turned on Psycho Clown and joined Pagano & Dr Wagner Jr. In lucha, workrate plays a very small role on who get pushed or get over with the crowd. Plenty of talented people are stuck in opening matches and the midcard with no hopes of elevation while someone's kid, the old men who should had already retired, or the booker's friends are in the main event.

Light spoiler for the rest of LU season 3 but most of the actual luchadors disappeared for a stint because of visa issues. Apparently AAA never did get them proper work visas to perform in the US. They had tourist visas. Remember how Mike Bailey got multi year banned in America for not having a work visa and getting caught wrestling? Same type of situation. MGM stopped using those people until they got the issue fixed. Reason why Daga got written off.

Psycho Clown suffers from his biggest international exposure being Triplemania 23, the show AAA pushed hard as the beginning of them expanding beyond Mexico while they were riding the wave of signing Rey/Alberto/Sin Cara OG and the positive buzz around Lucha Underground, and then they f***ed up in pretty much every way imaginable. With the Psycho Circus vs. geriatric Villanos match being particularly awful.
FWIW (and I'm far from the best authority on this since I only started following AAA after getting hooked on Lucha Underground, and still only sporadically), he's basically become the de facto top babyface in AAA since they scared away the big ex-WWE headliners, and I'd consider it reasonably justified, in that he's probably the most over guy under 40 they've got left. His popularity is definitely based more on charisma than in-ring work, though.

Tatsu faces Volador tonight Volador going to have do an Atlas sized carry job with Yoshi tonight. Show should be good since it's airing on New Japan World later. The luchadors put in extra effort in hopes of getting a future Japan tour.

Thanks to cubsfan for recording the CMLL show last night and putting it on his Youtube channel since ClaroSports decided to region block the show. The main event of Yoshi vs Volador was bad. Volador tried to make it work but Yoshi Tatsu sucked Black Chyna sized ass. When New Japan sees that effort from Yoshi, he's either going to be opening match jobber to the young boys or given his walking papers. To say his CMLL run was sad would be an understatement. Also Tirantes did the most mind boggling phantom bumps since that one that happened in TNA.

That was pathetic of Tatsu last night, If I'm New Japan I'm making an example out of him in front of everyone when he gets back. He disgraced and embarrassed not only New Japan but CMLL as well with how he acted and what he was doing these past weeks.

Oh, Lord. Why not just send him to TNA, New Japan? That'll teach him a lesson.

Penta Zero M missed last night's AAW show due to visa issues. That's something to keep your eyes on.

The Apache sisters and their father Gran have won The AAA Trios titles when Faby defeated Ricky Marvin in a singles contest to win the belts (I'm not making this up, honest)

AAA note from the observer Say what you will about TNA, but they've never claimed sellouts at shows after AJ, Joe, Roode, and many others had left.
