Big Show gets it

Show doesn't take himself as super SRS as some others do?
The man's already got money and a guaranteed spot in the Hall of Fame. And whenever they need him, he can instantly fit into a main event program. Why get all bent out of shape doing things in the meantime that he probably finds entertaining?

Ok you guys keep talking about money, but wouldn't the big show be worth a lot more if he was booked as a main eventer? Like I think he ducked dollars to pick up pennies.
He squandered a lot of his potential by not standing up to himself, to me he's one of the biggest underachievers in history. I get that the man has enough to support his family, but his personal brand could've been worth a lot more.

Jericho helped him to become a main eventer again, hell somebody with a lot of potential, his pay could've been bigger if he stuck with that.

When Show went to WWE, they broke that dude's ego down to nothing.

He admitted that he didn't fulfill expectations because he really didn't know how to work, he said that it took a lot of matches of Taker saying that he was dissapointed in him and Austin stiffing him to learn how to properly work like a giant. He also had attitude problems, Jericho said that Show was prick during his early years there, when he was sent to OVW, Lesnar in his book wrote that Big Show was a bully to everyone and he tried to pick on Brock...until Brock double legged him and embarrased him in front of the class.

I don't get this guy, he has received numerous chances to be a main eventer, but he ruins them by doing stupid comedy that ends up burying him. Whoa. He doesn't t ruin himself, he does what he's told. And despite various runs where the crowd doesn't care, he's also had many where the crowd does - either as a hell or a face. Because he can do all that and make it work. Something very few wrestler can.

By doing everything the company wants he lost opportunities. He main evented a ppv but appeared in a diaper some short time later. Years before he was in the main event picture then a short time later Val Venis made fun of him in the bathroom. Cena wouldn't agree to such things, neither would other main eventers. At some time he should've just said no.

Exactly what were people looking for out of Show?
Outside of Yokozuna I'm struggling to think of any giant Monster heels who've had long, championship filled careers in the WWE.
Andre was presented as a force of Nature but never really had any long title reigns.
Exactly how much mileage can you realistically get out of "Uber Serious Giant who chokeslams everyone to death" Yea that type of character might be really hot for one or two years but EVENTUALLY he's going to need to be defeated by a conquering hero.

Does he have better ideas?
Everyone likes to think the wrestlers are smarter than the writers, but what happens when that is not the case?

The money and the miles.- Attributed to Lou Albano Yeah Nash attributed it to Albano, but Kevin Nash wouldn't let creative take advantage of himself like Show does. Hell Nash even admitted that he refused to put over the rock without getting his shit in because it affected his character, if it affects his character so does his paycheck. I'm not angry at the big show for making his money, I'm just saying that he could've made more by standing up for himself. Take a guy like Zack Ryder, he admitted on Talk is Jericho that he probably should've refused the Eve Torres storyline, then what happened? It basically killed his career to the point where today almost five years later he's getting something of a push. Show is obviously a more higher profile guy, but still he lost potential opportunities. Yeah in the real world you either take shit from your employers or from your customers to get paid, but the wrestling business works differently from the real world. In the wwe Jericho one time told Vince to f*** off, then Vince congratulated Jericho for his balls and pushed him more. Chris said that in wrestling to become a top guy you need to stand up for yourself.

He's enjoying the ride. Life is about happiness, not about someone's place in an arbitrary pecking order or whoever dies with the most money wins. If he's happy and content with his role and enjoys going to work every day, there's a lot more value in that than fulfilling someone else's idea of what success is.

That's the WWE story and what Show says now, but I remember him being a pretty damn good giant in WCW too. Andre didn't have Austin stiffing him and Taker being disappointed dad telling him how to be him. There's more than one way to do it is what I'm getting at.

Because Andre knew how to work from traveling the world. Big Show barely even trained in the power plant, he got the heavyweight belt in his first match, nobody ever took the time to teach him anything good in WCW. It wasn't his fault.
