I can live with that. No pressure to kowtow to advertisers and forcing dreadful stories and characters meant to appeal to the non-pro wrestling masses. It really does feel like a succesful ECW. The point is for all the people who believe that WWE should make everything like NXT and complain why the Mainstream product isn't "as good" as NXT. Ohhh, the point is to call people stupid? Well, that doesn't make this thread any better. It just makes it useless as opposed to pointless.

It's sorta like saying that a minor league ball team wouldn't be a national draw. The assertion is factually correct, but still a quizzical statement given what the minors role is. That's because it's clickbait. NXT would NEVER draw on a national level. Click here to learn why! Do doctors hate you?

NXT came from HHH whining to Vince to give him his own promotion and a bunch of money to start it up What the hell are you on about? NXT came from Triple H being the head of talent relations and thinking it might be neat to use the internet as a way to give exposure to talents in developmental. You do realize that developmental has been a thing for a very long time, right?

If it had years of set-up in the popular consciousness, a more convenient platform to view it on, and a more consistent roster, it potentially could. As it stands, of course not, but it's not expected to.

Wrestling appeals to a niche audience in general. But then rather than trying to be a traditional TV ratings draw, they can keep on doing what they're doing, and at any time they want to run a show, they can easily sell out a Summerslam-sized arena. Wherever NXT goes, they know that people want in. And that's a productive niche to be in.

Does it contribute to the number of wrestling fans paying $9.99 a month to keep watching it? Then that's all that matters.

Is this supposed to effect how people enjoy the show? I don't speak for everyone, but national drawing power is like the last thing that ever comes to my mind when I'm watching something.

The point is for all the people who believe that WWE should make everything like NXT and complain why the Mainstream product isn't "as good" as NXT. I'm honestly good with it as an alternative. And as I mentioned in another post, those who are successful in NXT will get their payday in the main roster, so you have a revolving door of hungry, fresh talent all the time. If the goal of a young wrestler (or hell, maybe even an older) is to stay in NXT forever, effectively creating a ceiling for someone in NXT, that would change the dynamic enough that it would lose some of its appeal. Finn, Bayley and Sami are fine in the main event now, but I hope they leave entirely in the next few months before they get to 2002 HHH and mid- to late-2000s Cena level of stale.

Granted buying the Network entirely for NXT is rather dumb given you can also get it on Hulu, which is cheaper and has more variety. Though if it's just one of several reasons then by all means go with the Network for it.

I would have just skipped mania but instead I paid $9.99 to see Takeover and Mania. Apparently NXT does draw. I'll also do it again next Takeover because NXT Takeovers continue to deliver.

In my case, If I wanted to keep up with NXT as much as possible, I'd have had to have gotten the network because Hulu isn't available in Canada.

Interesting to note.

I almost feel like NXT is 75% of why I have the network, 10% for the original programming, 10% to rewatch 90s Raw and Nitro, and 5% for PPVs.

Considering NXT is based on wrestling that drew incredibly well in the past, I'm gonna have to disagree.

God damn, I tried to enjoy playing this videogame from the Shin Megami Tensei series but I can't because someone pointed out it's a niche series and will never be as popular as something like the Final Fantasy series.
What am I going to do with my life?!!!?

So I watched NXT takeover from last night.. Looks like a PPV dedicated to an entire WCW cruserweight division from the mid-late 90s.. How do you expect for these guys to ever draw when they get to the main roster and captivate the masses and start a boom period?
Hell I never saw Rock, Austin, Hogan even climb to the top rope. Whats missing in wrestling today is whats the MOST important.. Getting your mic skills, charisma, personality over to the crowd. Not "work rate"

Not "work rate" American Alpha, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Sami Zayn all got reactions like they had just found the cure for cancer, but okay.
