I legitimately had no idea that Jack Slack also did articles on wrestling, so this pleases me greatly.

Watching Nakamura vs Zayn. Amazing that guys still work a style that looks like they have no clue what causes concussions. 2:02 PM - 2 Apr 2016 Hmm...Whats your take on this? While I'm sure Disco knows a lot more about working a match than I do, I'm pretty sure the key part of that statement ought to be "looks like." It's a work. It's supposed to "look like" they're raining blows on each other with little regard for each other's heads. Same way a guy who does a suplex-heavy style like Brock aims to "look like" he has a flagrant disregard for other people's spines. Same way a ground-based grappler "looks like" he might snap a guy's ankle. So long as it "looks like," rather than "is," that's the point of wrestling, no?

Depends whether they are working stiff or working to look stiff.. if that makes sense..
Anyway, Disco Inferno recently said there's too much wrestling in wrestling nowadays so he can just f*** off pretending like he knows what he's talking about.

That article's focusing primarily on his signature finisher. There's still the point that a lot of what was going on in that match was based around kicks and elbows primarily to the head. Even professionals can miss their mark every now and then. I can't shit on his opinion. Knowing how neurologists are just scratching the surface on understanding concussions and TBIs, it's looking quite likely that even those who don't get concussed are still at a significantly higher risk for long-term neurological disorders when your brain is rattling inside your skull every single time you sell just about anything inside a ring. You don't even need physical contact to the head to damage the brain.

Knowing how neurologists are just scratching the surface on understanding concussions and TBIs, it's looking quite likely that even those who don't get concussed are still at a significantly higher risk for long-term neurological disorders when your brain is rattling inside your cranium after each sell no matter how little of physical contact actually taken. Not to mention, these guys do it four to five days a week. I still think there's absolutely risk involved, no doubt, and I think people less talented than the guy who hasn't really messed anyone up with his knee strike finisher will do some damage, but I think Nakamura himself is fine. Same with Zayn. I can't stand the guy but he's still on another level. I'd be more concerned with people trying to emulate it which is a different issue entirely. Inferno himself has kind of become a Russo type who throws things out there that he knows is guaranteed to get people talking so I don't put too much stock into what he's on about.

I dunno last time I watched a Disco Inferno match, I lost the remote and couldn't switch it off so ran into a brick wall and gave myself a concussion so they can happen anytime
.....Serious answer, injuries can happen in any situation in a wrestling ring(see Adrian Neville, Kevin Nash etc.) these are two highly trained professionals with 28 years of wrestling experience between them so I'm sure they can be trusted to have as safe a match as it's possible to have

Jesus. Don't show him Shibata/Ishii or Honma , he might have a heart attack.. Better keep the Kyle O'Reilly and Tommy End tapes locked up too just to be safe.

That match was a one off, I can see Nakamura having changes to his move style if he makes it up to the main roster.

I'd let Shinsuke Nakamura knee my 2 year old in the face.

I would say that concussions are caused more often by bumping than strikes.

A lot of wrestling moves "look like" they hurt.
Isn't that why they're used?
