It's not really censorship one, and this is nothing to do with freedom of speech either.
I mean, it's lame of em, but there's nothing morally, legally, or ethically wrong there. No more so than APPLAUSE signs and the like.

It's funny... on the same night the fans gave them a record they essentially said f8ck you to the fans.

Well it is a tad hypocritical of WWE to make a big deal about how they value the audience's responses and that it's great that they have an opinion about something only for them to mute them when it comes to booing their new golden boy.

It's legit a heel thing they had Kurt Angle do with the you suck chants. Granted that was bleeps instead of mutes but still.

Given the crowd expressly was trying to derail the match, no, I don't think it's a moral issue.
Like, they made their point, let's not turn this into something grander that it isn't. I don't know if I agree with muting them, I think it only highlighted it, but it's not censorship, and it's not really an issue of morality.

I don't want this going off topic somehow, since I want to be mindful of the no politics rule. Since this is related to the topic at hand I'll just make this one post and be done with it.
Yes, the First Amendment protects you from government censorship. That doesn't mean it isn't still censorship when a private enterprise silences their customers, and it certainly doesn't make it morally right to do so either. Legally, yes. Morally? Absolutely not.

I love that we not only went with the same example, we used the same amount of LAs. The kisses of the sun - Were sweet I didn't blink I let it in my eyes - Like an exotic drink The radio playing songs - That I have never heard I don't know what to say - Oh not another word
Just - la la la la la - It goes around the world Just - la la la la la - It's all around the world Just - la la la la la - And everybody's singing La la la la la - And now the bells are ringing
La la la la la - la la la la la la la - la la la la la - la la la la la la la La la la la la - la la la la la la la - la la la la la - la la la la la la la Damn you, I had completely put ATC 10 years out of my brain paths.

This thread won't make sense in a few days because the crowd will have been edited to giving Roman a Stone Cold in 1998 level reaction.

This thread won't make sense in a few days because the crowd will have been edited to giving Roman a Stone Cold in 1998 level reaction. People to this day talk about Brock / Goldberg and the reaction it got despite WWE editing that in every subsequent release. Everyone will remember what actually happened and it'll forever be a blight on the show.

No, it's not ok. They act like they listen to the fans, their main goal is to "put smile on people's faces," yet all I saw was them being complete assholes. Muting the crowd of 100,000 because they aren't going with your stupid forced agenda isn't acceptable or right, it's completely and totally wrong. f*** them, stuff like this tonight and last year with Rock coming to try and lessen Reign's boo's piss me off.
People just don't like Roman Riegns, just accept it.

It was a bad match at a bad event so they boo'd it. How is that derailment? Was it derailment when Roger Ebert gave bad movies poor reviews? Did Roger Ebert somehow derail Ishtar? If you don't want people to boo your media product , make it good. Don't mute them because you're incompetent at compelling storytelling.

Weeks now, people have been drooling over the opportunity to boo the match out of the stadium, here and elsewhere. They were ferocious the moment he showed up, it had dick all to do with the match. That is what I mean by derailing, they wanted to carpet bomb it from before they even got to the arena.

I brought this up in the Mania thread: WWE made fun of the piped-in/edited crowd reactions when they competed with WCW (Gillberg). They still do (to a certain extent) on the Monday Night Wars and Rise & Fall DVD.
Is the home audience really going to accept this? The fans you insult today will not be fans tomorrow.
