Last thing I found interesting from this week's WON, he's the details.
Other than commercials mentioning The Rock, there was little push for him. He actually sort of did a match, in the sense he took no punishment but beat Erick Rowan in seven seconds. Them using the Wyatt Family in his segment took them out of being in the Brock Lesnar segment and out of the Battle Royal. It led to a flat story in the Lesnar match that with hindsight makes no sense with Lesnar destroying Ambrose at every turn and then beating him clean at Mania. The funny part is that the stated goal of pulling Ambrose from the plan with Chris Jericho to Lesnar, and pulling Wyatt from Lesnar, was to get Ambrose over. Instead, every aspect of the Mania build up past making him a quirky midcard face who was endorsed by Terry Funk and Mick Foley, basically told the story that he’s a more charismatic Ryan Bader, a guy who beats most guys, but has no chance to beat any true top guy.
Looks like all plans of this show kicking off Lesnar vs. Strowman for SummerSlam should be off after the reaction to the Strowman vs. Ambrose match.
Speaking of Styles, the original plan for Mania was to do a Jericho vs. Ambrose program with Jericho turning on Ambrose, but lots changed regarding Ambrose being moved to work with Lesnar and Styles coming in
In regards to Payback
"Both of those matches should be great, as should be Jericho vs. Dean Ambrose and Owens vs. Zayn."
Also this brings us back to Monday where Cole said Lesnar had a "hard fought win at Wrestlemania". Hell JBL said "and at one point it looked like it was a "pick up match" between Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar. An unbelievable performance by the lunatic", I mean, what?
So...while to us it looks like Ambrose was decisively beaten every turn, in the company's eyes they think this match really elevated Ambrose. They put Ambrose with Lesnar to supposedly help him out and also due to Strowman not having a great match with Ambrose on SD the other week the company's soured on that Brock/Strowman match. Now Ambrose is going to face Jericho supposedly so I guess he goes over? Either way this company is just so interesting. They think Ambrose was elevated and yet (after they nixed what Ambrose wanted out of the match) after the match to us it looks differently. Maybe that's why AJ lost to Jericho, so Jericho would look credible for Ambrose, who knows but it makes no sense if AJ is facing Reigns soon.
This company and their "looking strong in defeat" thing.
