I was 11 when the 1997 versions came out, which was just the perfect age for that re-release. I was already a huge star wars fan at that point, like memorized most of the trivia in the Essential Guides huge. Yeah, I'll probably go again. I passed on the 3D re-releases, because f*** that noise. EDIT: I didn't realize they canned the 3D re-releases after The Phantom Menace.

After seeing fan edits like the Despecialized Edition and the Semi-Specialized Edition, I will never be able to bring myself to watch the Special Editions of Star Wars or Return Of The Jedi ever again.
Empire Strikes Back Special Edition was great though, love Cloud City.

Neat... I'll probably go and see it...
Special Editions never bothered me that much personally... the only real problem I had with the Greedo shot thing is how half assed they did it originally...
though the opening song from Return of hte Jedi was completely unnecessary.

So are the original versions coming out on DVD or not? I heard it both ways.

Did not get into Star Wars until 2005 and I have always wanted to see the original trilogy in the theater. Unfortunately the closest one to me is in Louisville which in itself is a 5 hour drive. I doubt they do a screening here but hopefully between Atlanta, Nashville, and Birmingham one of those will get it.

1997 Empire & Jedi I don't mind (Jedi rocks & beak aside) But 1997 Star Wars an f*** right off I don't mind 1997 Jedi, but 2004/2011 Jedi can f*** right off. One change that doesn't get mentioned much (that I absolutely hate) is the escape from Bespin in ESB. The unnecessary clips of Vader's shuttle landing completely wreck the pacing.

They better get released here, Empire & Jedi are the only two I've never seen on a big screen
