Opening the season at 5000-1 odds, Leicester City has just proven that nothing is impossible.
A video from NBC Sports Network on the season back in March:
Will we ever see an upset as big as this ever again? Can Leicester keep making miracles and win the UEFA Champions League next season? Discuss.

Very happy for Claudio Ranieri.
A genuinely sweet man who deserves to be a Premier League winning manager.

Absolutely amazing. I'm not going to glory hunt and pretend I have always been a fan but damn, I really don't see how you can be unhappy about this. It's been a very bizarre Season to say the least.. Chelsea's awful start which ended up with the sacking of Mourinho. Man City and Man Utd pretty much underachieving, for awhile it looked like it was Arsenal's for the taking but than they to slipped up. Quite crazy to think it came down Leicester and Tottenham in the end. To think If I had put in a cheeky bet at the beginning of the Season I'd be pretty well off now. Nonetheless, well deserved Let's see how they do out in Europe.

To think If I had put in a cheeky bet at the beginning of the Season I'd be pretty well off now. Unless you did the same as this guy and cash out after the opening day and manage to lose 5p. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36154211

Something I mentioned in the footy thread a few weeks back to remember about Leicester's incredible season.
They survived relegation at the end of last season and they were considered favourites for relegation the following season. Then, three of their players (including the Manager's son) were caught making racist comments whilst filming an orgy in Thailand (yes, seriously). The three players were soon dismissed from the club and the Manager followed soon after. Not long after, one of their strikers was filmed using racist language in a London Casino. Before they'd even played a game, it all looked to be going to shit for the club. Ten months later, they won the Premier League and we have possibly the greatest football story ever told.

I thought it was a mistake to sack Nigel Pearson just before the start of this season after he miraculously fought off relegation last season. I thought Ranieri was an awful appointment. I thought Ranieri would be sacked by Christmas and Leicester relegated by April. In conclusion, I was wrong, very very wrong. They have deservedly won the title, been by far the best team in the league and its so refreshing

In an era where the biggest cheque book wins the League, I'm so happy that Leicester have won the Barclays Premier League through nothing but hard work and passion. Claudio Ranieri is like the nicest man ever and I'm glad to see him win the title after getting mugged off by Abramovich and Chelsea years ago.
I'm not going to go on a glory hunt and try and claim I've been a Leicester fan since I was young (hell living in Scotland I'd struggle to name Leicester on a map), but to see a team like them win the League makes me genuinely happy for them. I don't know if we'll ever see something like this ever again.
And you're damn well sure this is going to inspire similar smaller clubs to make a challenge for the title. Don't live in your box. Punch above your weight. If you work hard enough you can achieve things beyond your wildest dreams.

Saying that, I think Pearson is exactly what the prima donnas at Villa need.

It's a perfect example of a group of good players who play together as a great team. Yes, they have a billionaire owner but they've been kept grounded.

Tonight all excuses were blown to shreds. If Leicester can do it on a relatively small budget, any underachieving bigger club can do it. Villa, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle etc...take note.

We're going to be telling our grandkids about this.
What an achievement for the team and redemption for Ranieri. It's going to be quite the moment when he and the Foxes get their guard of honour at Stamford Bridge.
Now comes the hard part. Leicester's got Champions League football on the horizon and must do what it can to keep its stars and resist cashing in.

Fully deserved. I know it had been all but confirmed since a week ago, but it still feels surreal now that it has actually happened.
Not to put a damper on the underdog story (it still is an unlikely achievement of incredible magnitude), but I do feel some of the things brought up to illustrate how bleak it looked for them at the start of the season don't quite apply. Mainly the orgy story. Those three players involved were nowhere close to the first team, so it's not like they had to make a major reshuffle to the squad.
One thing I would add, though, is that it's a huge turnaround not just for Leicester, but for Ranieri. Coming off possibly the most disastrous European qualification campaign ever with with Greece, many would probably have felt that he was done as a manager.

So pleased for Leicester fans after they were class to when we won the championship at their place, staying to applaud us as the end and even clapping our coaches as we drove by.
And of course for Ranieri, he's even more classy which has been so refreshing after the likes of Fergie and Mourinho's childish antics.

So happy for Ranieri. I was annoyed at the start of the season that he was seen as a poor managerial choice, but he's one of my favourites. He built the foundations of the Chelsea team, and he's a genuinely nice, honest guy.
I had them placed at 14th at the start of the season. Incredible achievement. Tottenham's time will come though, great team.

Wonder if this will get mentioned on Raw tonight?
I know JBL makes English Football references from time to time, I remember when he acknowledged Wigan Athletic winning the FA Cup a few years back.

I counted six different posters that had Leicester City being relegated, with a seventh putting them in that mix. It's simple now. They did it. Why can't your team?

The players may not have been close to the first team but the Manager was sacked because of that incident too. The same Manager who took them to the Premier League and had steered them from being bottom of the league at Christmas was gone. That was one of the main reasons why it looked so bleak, so I think the orgy incident is definitely relevant.

An unbelievable underdog story that any fan will always remember.
This was not the most talented or gifted team like Manchester City or Arsenal but, they were a team who worked their asses off and put in the work for all 90 plus minutes of each match. Jaime Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Kante, and Wes Morgan being the leaders of that effort. It's going to take a while for this to settle in considering they looked guaranteed for relegation at points last season. But, all we can do is enjoy it.
I made fun of them from time to time because they were a very snide team but, it's that edge that made them champion of the biggest league in all of world football. That also came from the fact that I couldn't believe that they were actually going to win this thing.

Very happy for Claudio Ranieri. A genuinely sweet man who deserves to be a Premier League winning manager. Especially after some of the shit the pundits said about him at the start of the season: Phil Thompson:"They should really have signed his agent. He got all those jobs for him! I may be quite wrong, but I don't think he's ever won anything. He's been there, seen it, not done it, at all those places. Nigel Pearson did ever so well, and for Ranieri to get this job was quite incredible. I hope he does well, because he is a nice guy, but he's fortunate." Gary Lineker:"Claudio Ranieri? Really?" "Claudio Ranieri is clearly experienced, but this is an uninspired choice by Leicester. It's amazing how the same old names keep getting a go on the managerial merry-go-round." Harry Redknapp:"Ranieri is a nice guy, but he's done well to get the Leicester job. After what happened with Greece, I'm surprised he can walk back into the Premier League." Tony Cottee:"I'm astonished. I just didn't see this one coming. Obviously there have been many people linked to the job but as far as I'm aware, Ranieri wasn't one and for me, it is a strange appointment. They made a massive risk getting rid of Nigel Pearson who did such a good job football-wise towards the end of last season. To appoint Ranieri now, bearing in mind where he has been the last 10 years, is a huge gamble." Robbie Savage:"Ranieri, good manager but for me not Leicester. If you play for the Foxes you need someone you can relate to as a manager. O'Neill, Pearson are managers the players can relate to. I'd have gone back to O'Neill or Lennon. It will be a relegation battle whoever was manager. Big name, bad choice in my opinion. Time will tell. Hopefully I am wrong."
