You do know that I'm not supposed to work on the days I have off, right? Today makes the second straight day off I've had where you called the house and I didn't pick up. The fact that you're making me stay later, making me even more tired isn't helping.

I know how you feel, I was suppose to work today but the other cart guy got "hurt" off the clock so he's going to miss the week even though he is on vacation next week. Instead I have to work Saturday and had to reschedule all of my plans then I have to work Sunday as well since I take the bus to work I have to be up at 6 in the morning

I had a doctors note to go back to work after I passed out there last summer, and my boss gave the rest of the week off with pay. Hopefully your job won't call you on your next day off!!

I feel your pain. My job has a lot of forced over time. Just "you don't have a choice, pack an extra lunch, you're staying!" Last February I ended up calling in sick on my days off so I wasn't forced in. That's right, I was playing hooky on a day I was already suppose to be off!

Hmmm. Yeah. If you could just answer the phone next time, that would be great.

Boss: Hey...um...can you come in today? ME: We talked about this. I have two jobs. I work the other job on Wednesday. Today is Wednesday. Boss: So...can you come in today? ME:(muffles expletive)...I'm at work, so no. *click*

There was a time a couple months ago when I'd be called to see if I wanted to come in every day off I had (I'd only get two a week) because someone always called out whenever I wasn't scheduled. This on top of people calling out the days I was scheduled, necessitating me to be asked to come in one or two hours before I was scheduled. I almost never call out unless I absolutely have to (absolutely violently ill), and when I do, I feel bad because I feel like I can't afford calling out. This shame extends to me being unable to say I can't go in these nights or earlier than scheduled when I actually have no plans (I never do), so I either always take the hours, or feel terrible saying no.
They also called my personal phone after 10 PM for over half an hour when I was out having dinner with my girlfriend one night so I could help the kid they sent out close because he had no idea what he was doing.

Dear work,
Thank you for finally giving me an answer as to why you have been putting me on nights the last few months. Also thanks for suggesting that I may be getting a raise and another "surprise" too. I'm a little surprised you have told me I will be getting a job performance review in a few months.

Dear work, Thank you for finally giving me an answer as to why you have been putting me on nights the last few months. Also thanks for suggesting that I may be getting a raise and another "surprise" too. I'm a little surprised you have told me I will be getting a job performance review in a few months. bob Dear Bob, I feel like there's some undue tension between us. Please don't misconstrue my tease of a surprise as anything but sincere. We really do want your skin and blood to go towards our polytheistic sacrifice at the annual general meeting. We don't take this decision lightly and can assure you we have filled out all appropriate paperwork and have approval from the board. I understand that disclosing such information this way ruins the pleasantries of telling you in person. But we don't want you to mistakenly think you're not a valued member of our family. Please accept this email as a metaphorical olive branch that we can all grow from. Kind regards, Work P.s. Alex called in sick again today. Can you cover his workload this weekend?

Work calling on your days off is the worst. Especially if it's bad news or something. It's like I'm there for at least 40 hours every week. Tell me then. Otherwise f*** off!

I worked my shift yesterday morning, then got called back in to close, because no one was scheduled for the department.

(*approaches with caution*)
Erm...this might go against the tone of the thread, but I actually quite like my job. There's mutual respect between my boss and the rest of my colleagues, and he knows where to draw the line at workload.
Of course, a decent payrise wouldn't go amiss..

I also like my job, I get along with everyone there, and, they have taken care of me when I was sick. I don't think the thread is totally serious, though
