So...1) What the hell does the president of the NWA even do in 2016? 2) What could possibly come out of this meeting that would be of interest to anyone?

I'd love to see the NWA title mean something.

If it gets me the greatest seller of all time, Big Daddy Yum Yum, in NXT, I'll take it.

Imo the only good thing that can come out of a relationship with the NWA is for WWE to allow underutilized talents to work NWA promotions. With WWE being on a massive Indy talent grab, and even using more and more non-contracted talents, workers who are contracted by WWE are forced to compete with people who aren't even employed and can't even compete with them on equal ground. I would like to see NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger or Zack Ryder.

WWE is not letting any of their contracted wrestlers perform outside of WWE out of fear of them getting injured. Tiger Ali Singh sued WWE because IWA Puerto Rico had him wrestle in an outside ring during a rainstorm and he got seriously injured after a fall during his match. WWE had no idea that was going to happen. After that, no WWE wrestler performs for any non-WWE official event. Guys like Gargano and Ciampa are more independent contractors than full time WWE contracted talent. So no one besides them and Lawler are working actual matches. Even when WWE talent appear at EVOLVE events, it's in non wrestling appearances. I see Tharpe trying to hustle a deal with Hunter because just about every knows he's a huge NWA mark and Bruce is currently running the NWA. Might be seeing how much WWE is willing to buy or least the Boesch library since they were pursing that footage for quite a while. I don't see even Trips will be like New Japan and put up with Tharpe and merry caravan of misfits.

It constantly astounds me to know that the NWA is still a thing in 2016.

All the NWA own these days is a couple of minor libraries and the NWA trademarks, Hunter likely wants to license something from them for a DVD or merchandise release, maybe replica NWA titles.

Probably just negotiating for some kind of licensing deal, as others have said. Though Trips may also be interested in getting the NWA in on some of these tournaments NXT is doing.

I know that people will be looking for more to come from this meeting, but you know the only thing I want? A deal to be made for the likeness of the classic NWA World Title, just it can be in future WWE games.

What is the NWA anyway nowadays? Their champ is Jax Dane, that should speak for itself.
Heck it wasn't until the deal with New Japan that the NWA titles got to be defended infront of thousands again for the first time in over 20 years.

Triple H is a huge NWA fan, so this should be interesting.

Well, once WWE inducted Snoop Dogg into the Hall of Fame, it seemed obvious that WWE would get a agreement with NWA soon.
And people think the Celebrity Wing is just a joke.

Clearly this is going to lead to "The Apex of Apathy"Rob Conway returning to tell the crowd to "sit down and shut up" while he shows the Shining Stars what true silence really sounds like.

Even when WWE talent appear at EVOLVE events, it's in non wrestling appearances. In addition to those things, it's also important to know- the NWA promotions are by and large shindies. Even the best non-New Japan promotions are two or three steps below any promotion with any acclaim...and most NWA promotions are maybe one step above backyard feds. Even if you WERE going to allow underutilized talents to work indy dates, you would need to do it for promotions that would at LEAST put Swagger/Ryder in the ring with a guy who has some credibility as a performer (if not someone WWE is openly scouting), and not a "Okay, Ryder, I know he's raw, but he did great in his backyard fed and he sold 50 tickets to the show to his family and friends, so he's your opponent."

Figured that was what this was about when I saw the thread title. Houston wrestling has a lot of surviving footage and the way that the Houston territory worked, there's a LOT of A-list talent footage tied up with it. Boesch/Houston didn't keep a whole lot of its own roster on hand, but rather booked top names from other nearby territories (World Class in the early 80s, Mid-South toward the mid-80s, WWF the last few months, some others in there as well).

That picture of Tharpe and Triple H...
Tharpe: "YEAHHH!!!! WE'RE PLAYING WITH THE BIG BOYS NOW!!!"
Triple H: "Get the shit off me, please. Make it quick."
What if Triple H acquired the NWA trademarks himself, not WWE?

If I was HHH, I'd buy the entire thing and put it out of it's misery.
