Magnus because it's pro wrestling and British people are not supposed to be World Champions. ...Russo? Yep, Magnus confirmed he said that backstage to him. Good to know Russo's racism isn't just limited to Mexicans and Asians. Good thing John Klinger (remember him?) only had a thirty second squash against Joe after he won Gutcheck because he'd likely be doing Goose Steps.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the idea of a Sabin heel turn shortly after he won the title from Bully Ray as a very sympathetic babyface coming off an injury. That's such a TNA booking move that I can almost see it.

Sabin only because I cant forget tyhose TNA marks who went on posting rampage about how pound for pound Sabin is better than any wrestler WWF had, and when many said Bryan, Punk, Jericho, etc was better, they just claimed Sabin was much better. That just buged me.

Well Sabin kinda have a career resurgence after losing the belt, tna and beyond, whereas Magnus career pretty much died. To tell you the truth I don't know if he's even wrestling anymore.

Magnus is considerably worse. Sabin's was poorly handled, but it ultimately was over pretty quickly, and was done with a longtime mainstay of the company who was popular and respected for the most part.
Magnus was a decent enough wrestler, but did not merit consideration for the title at the time, and was basically like every criticism of Seth Rollins' reign, only with a much less talented and credible wrestler, and magnified two-fold.

I liked Sabin's reign because it really came out of the blue.

Sabin is an extremely talented wrestler and deserved a much better title reign.

In the broader scope, Magnus; dude was primed to be a big player for TNA, and their booking of him just sank his ability to draw. I honestly didn't mind his initial heel turn and his chickenshit heel act for a bit, but he hit the inevitable TNA problem (and sometimes WWE problem depending on who's the champ involved): since he was a chickenshit heel, TNA felt they couldn't afford to job any top level talent out to him cleanly, thus necessitating increasingly ridiculous forms of interference or shenanigans in his title defenses until everything became meaningless. Like, it could've worked for awhile: Magnus "sells out", gets complacent, starts getting over-reliant on help from Dixie's goon squad, but eventually they had to try something different and let him come into his own. Would've worked better if he had a reasonably clean win or two under his belt, then they could've have him drop the belt to Joe at Lockdown, but instead they hit the pinnacle of stupid interference angles when they had Abyss drag Joe under the ring, cost him the match, had Abyss become Magnus' bodyguard (not a bad idea), then sink THAT idea ASAP by turning Abyss back face super quickly because...reasons?
However, in isolation, I think I may go with Sabin's reign being worse just because of how senseless it was, and how wasteful it was for a guy who really deserved better from the company if they wanted to give him a "thank you" run. Sabin was basically the Luger to Bully's Hogan to AJ's Sting, but that title win only happened in WCW because Luger had it in his contract; there was no reason to derail Bully and take away from the slow build to AJ being the one to destroy Aces and Eights, especially if the only way they were going to have Sabin do it was by plenty of interference (noticing a theme, here?), fluky weapons shots, basically getting his knee destroyed the entire match, etc. And if chaz is right and the original plan was for Sabin to turn heel and face AJ at BFG, instead...that's even more pointless! You have Sabin get the big redemption angle, ascend to the top of the mountain, topple the big bad heel stable running roughshod over the company...and he instantly turns heel right afterward? Not saying heel Sabin couldn't have worked there: I didn't mind the idea of "delusional champ Sabin now thinks he's greater than he actually is and is letting the title go to his head", but there's no build there with AJ, who was clearly being built that year to be TNA's Sting.
We should also reserve a spot here for "Most Unfairly Truncated Title Reign", which would easily go to Austin Aries after they had him beat Roode, then make him drop the gold to Hardy.

You really have to listen to the two part interview with magnus on Russo's podcast one show. It was Big who screwed the push, at the time, russo was only a consultant.
