On last weeks episode of the Spontaneanation podcast, comedian Kulap Vilaysack talked to host Paul F Tompkins about working at the Hulk Hogan pasta restaurant Pastamania at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota. You can listen to the episode here from 17.30 onwards; www.earwolf.com/episode/a-coffee-plantation-in-bali-live-from-sxsw/Where they discuss being corporate head hunted by Pastmania, $25 tear away shirts, "The World Just Lost Another Hulkamaniac", Thunder in Paradise, uniforms and meeting Macho Man Randy Savage.

I've heard her bring it up a couple of times on her podcast "Who Charted?".
Greetings Chartists?

Wow.
Totally true post here.
Summer '96 was when my wrestling fandom hit really, really hard. Being a Minnesotan, I went to the Mall of America when I saw right around my birthday (August 14th) Pastamania. A WRESTLING RESTAURANT?! I had to try it. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) we already had lunch reservations somewhere else we were going to and didn't get to stop. There was absolutely nobody near it and the girl sitting at the register at the counter (Who I guess now has to be Kulap) looking depressed with her head resting sideways on her hand like a child looking out the living room window at rain on a Saturday afternoon.
But I still wanted it.
Labor Day weekend arrives and, the day before I go back to school, my dad takes me to the MoA once again. We find Pastamania on the Mall Directory and head toward the location.
We get there and suddenly everything is gone. I missed Pastamania.

I'm guessing the food there was awful. It comes crashing down and it hurts inside.

I'm guessing the food there was awful. Noted food critic Bobby Heenan once said " That the food was excellent it's just the people he couldn't stand" and I can now confirm that shot was solely directed at Kulap and to a lesser extent Hogan.

And when I got there they told me he'd just left.
