Ah Sonic the Hedgehog.
He and I go back along way..
I remember when I first saw him on posters he reminded me a lot of Felix the Cat, Hence why I originally assumed he was a Cat with Spikes, I was quite surprised when I found out he was actually a Hedgehog.
Anyway I used to play the Sonic games a lot on the Mega Drive (Genesis).. Sonic 2 even today is an all time favourite of mine.
I also use to collect Sonic the Comic, The British version, It started with other Sega Games like Golden Axe etc, but in the end ended up Sonic exclusive.
I also use to get up early every Sunday Morning to watch The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog on Channel 4.
I've never really gotten into modern Sonic, not to follow the crowd but I never owned a Dreamcast so never really got to play the Adventure games.. I bought Sonic Heroes though never really fully got into it. Had a brief play on Sonic 06 (Less said there the better).
Cartoons
AOSTH - Probably my favourite incarnation, like I said I would get up early on Sundays to watch, the show hasn't aged well but I still find some enjoyment from it, if nothing else it gave us "PINGAS", immature as it is this meme always made me laugh.
Satam - I'm going to be honest, I'm a late comer to this one, I can see it's appeal and I like the characters like Sally and Bunnie, but I guess I never really appreciated it like I should, Still a shame it got cancelled.
Underground - Well now, where do I begin?, You have Sonic with 2 Glorified OC Characters that are supposedly his brother and sister looking for their mum, I found the songs a little cringeworthy and that god awful intro song >.<, But I will admit I liked parts so It wasn't all bad, Far from the best as a lot of main Sonic characters like Tails were missing, Sure Knuckles appeared in an episode but eh.. Whatever.
Sonic X - I'm going to blunt, this one sucks.. Why do they need to be in the Human world?, Couldn't get into this one at all.
Sonic Boom - I really enjoy this one, I like how it doesn't take itself over the top seriously and just good stupid fun, It's not perfect and I can see why it doesn't appeal to everyone, but damn I love Robotnik (Or Eggman whatever) in this one, I sort of love the more frenemy approach they have given him on this one, despite being an evil villain he still casually hangs out in town, and when he is defeated instead of the usual "NO CURSE YOU!!" It's more "Well that sucks, nevermind".. A guilty pleasure.
I cannot deny that Sonic has played a big role in my life growing up, whilst I don't agree with all the directions the franchise has gone, the memories are mostly positive.
Though I wish fans would stop with the shipping of Rainbow Dash from MLP with him
But yeah, happy 25th Sonic
I wasn't a fan of Sonic Boom at first. But after watching a few episodes, it grew on me after I learned not to take it so seriously, like SatAM.
There were some major LoL moments for me in Sonic Boom.
