The more powerful model would likely have an additional CPU along with DIMM to improve performance, while the cheaper model would just be a Switch without a docking ability. That's just my guess. This is likely going to be Nintendo's big E3 announcement.

Feels like the Switch just came out, especially since I didn't pick it up until Odyssey dropped.

I assume there will then be a fourth Switch variation in 2020 you'll build out of cardboard and program yourself in promotion with Nintendo Labo.

Has anyone played Mutant League Football, Blade Strangers, or Code of Princess EX? Curious of opinions on them.

Has anyone played Mutant League Football, Blade Strangers, or Code of Princess EX? Curious of opinions on them. I bought Blade Strangers when it was on sale a couple a months ago. It's a pretty okay simplistic 2-D tournament fighter. By that I mean it plays alright, but there really isn't much to the game other than playing as various Indie game characters such as Shovel Knight or Issac. And the Online is a complete barren wasteland as there's literally no one there to play with. IMO Nothing to really go out of your way to get as there are much better options for fighting games on the console.

Was gonna wait it out, but all the rumours pointed to a cheaper, handheld only model so I figured I was safe. This beefed up version seems out of left field, it better not be like the New 3DS where certain games are only playable on that model.

Honestly, sort of makes sense to do that. The console's been out for two years at this point and by the end of the year, they'll be room for the audience that wants something more powerful so we get more ports of PS4/Xbox One titles and something smaller ala 2DS for kids to use. My sister just got a Switch and I honestly can't see her being that bothered about either since she has the one that'll play the new Mario, Zelda, Mario Karts and whatever. I might be inclined for the more powerful one at some point but that won't be for a while yet.

Even if it ends up not having a dock and just being a mobile plataform

It'd be the thing to separate it from mobiles because, well, you can't play a decent version of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on your phone.

The two models would also make sense depending on where the customer's preferred emphasis is.
The Switch owner who prefers the smaller indy games would have a less expensive option that could allow them to feel like they didn't overpay for a machine to play Stardew Valley and the one who wants AAA games would be more willing to shell out the cash that could let them experience PS4/X-Box One ports without too much compromise.

I'm all for a more powerful model (VR support, maybe?), but if there's going to be a model that potentially prevents certain games from being played, I hope Nintendo has a marketing strategy in mind to explain this because that's a slippery slope. What's the cutoff going to be? Is it just going to be future games that might be locked out or are games like Doom out as well? PS4 Pro and Xbox One X get away with it because they're purely optional/premium consoles, but this is going to actually determine how many games you can play.

Hopefully, the powerful Switch model comes with some actual storage. 32 Gigs ain't cutting it.

I don’t want to speak for Nintendo, and I might be wrong here, but I very much reckon it’s only going to be a way to make games less choppy frame rate wise on the go than anything majorly substantial but again, I could be wrong here. I think they learned from how the New 3DS didn’t really do much in sales compared to the others (and I say this as an owner of a New 3DS and enjoy it a lot).

And I bought the N3DS on launch day, and I regret nothing because I’ve logged more hours on my 3DS/N3DS then any console or hand held since probably N64. But I was flush with cash when it launched, upgrading my Switch this year seems very unlikely

I played the demo, and absolutely loved it. Would really like to get it at some point, but it’s not a priority at the moment.

Just watched my preschooler play the new Yoshi for a couple hours.
Pretty damn rad.
