One of the most popular board games ever! ... I have legit never heard of it in my life. Well just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean that it isn't unbelievably popular. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CatanBut then we wouldn't get Peachette. This just raises further questions about the Mario Universe I mean, I didn't say it isn't, I just said I hadn't heard of it. As for Peachette... If Peach has been a Toad the whole time that means our princess was never in another castle.

At least with FF7 on the Switch, people can now stop complaining about how Cloud is in Smash without his game ever appearing on a Nintendo System.

I'm really torn on if I'm interested in the new Animal Crossing or not. On one hand it is very overdue and I do generally really enjoy these games, and New Leaf in particular is probably the best one of them. On the other... I feel like this series is just an outright trap because no matter what, it ALWAYS happens that I eventually miss a chance to buy turnips and subsequently never play the game again. Just feels like a waste of money because I will get bored and abandon it.

Caved and got a month of the online service. The NES stuff is neat. Everything loads super fast. Though no way to map the controller buttons.

Haven't done much else. My online was a bit weak, but that might be my end more than anything. Otherwise, everything I've tried's been fine.

Though really I don't know why anyone cares about the Nintendo connection to begin with. At this point it's basically a big celebration of video games as a whole... and honestly even if they put in a non-video game character at this point I wouldn't especially mind.

What what I've seen on the interwebs, Nintendo Online has been a complete dud, with all sorts of off-putting quirks, including the inability to even remap buttons for the NES games.
Honestly its astounding to me how badly this whole thing has been executed. The lack of information for months, the outdated setup, the dubious "rewards" for subscriptions, everything. What's particularly bemusing is that its so easy to throw in things to attract buyers. I'm almost tempted to believe some of these decisions are out of spite towards a segment of the fanbase because There are loads of SNES/N64/GBA games that you could just give online play to that would be infinitely better than what they're doing now. Mario Kart 64 with internet competition alone would make up for a lot of the bulls*** Nintendo's done with this service.

Problem is, when it comes to online services and whatnot, Nintendo does not understand anything.
I'm hoping they consider adding SNES & GameBoy options because that's more or less something that hasn't had the stink of rehashing as badly as the NES does.
Also, limiting cloud save options makes it feel less like an insurance policy and more like an inconvenience.

Fiddling around with the NES games and maaan is it astounding how few of these are actually any good. Balloon Fight wears out its welcome after about five minutes, Baseball has aged like milk, even if you're someone who can spend all day playing Donkey Kong the Arcade Classics version is a much better way to do so, to be honest I've never remotely liked Dr. Mario, Excitebike is utter garbage that's so unplayable it actually kind of offends me that Nintendo keeps trying to act like it's a gem, Ice Climber's jumping severely hampers it, I haven't tried out Ice Hockey, Soccer, or Tecmo Bowl yet but I don't exactly have any expectations of them, Mario Bros. wasn't any good until the GBA ports fixed it, Pro Wrestling has the most overly convoluted controls this side of Batman Forever, Tennis is playable but VERY basic, and Yoshi's super bland.
The only ones of these actually worth bothering with are the SMB games, Double Dragon, River City Ransom, Ghosts 'N Goblins, Gradius, and the original Zelda. And I hesitate to say that least one because literally all of the sequels completely eclipse it. And even then, not being able to edit the button layout makes the SMB games MUCH more awkward due to B and A not being at good positions to use in conjunction with each other.
Also the NES library has quite probably the worst UI I have ever seen. They just vomited a bunch of covers all together with nothing to break up the visuals and no attempt to even make them a uniform size.

I was gonna say that the sizes varied and they should have gone with a more uniform appearance like the menu screens for the NES Classic.

The people that made these games musta been idiots not a single one of them is as good as the new Spider-Man and I say that as a guy that hates spiders and mans.

Don't have anything to add on the actual service as I haven't got it yet.
But Excitebike is legitimately one of my favorite NES games.

Neat, but I wouldn't want to risk my account by trying that. Better to stick with the NES/SNES classic if you want to try that, I think.
