So, mainly because my favorite movies growing up were the famous slasher franchises from the 80's. When credits would have pop music and the hip teens would be listening to it.
There was a scene in the most recent Scream episode where Noah is buying condoms and there's pop music playing, very 80's throwback style stuff.
It elicited a feeling of noatalgia for the genre.
Anyone else agree on this?

Absolutely. One of the main reasons I loved It Follows was the 80's style soundtrack. Horror movies just don't seem the same with orchestral/rock music.

I love 80's music, so a soundtrack is awesome to me

This should have been in every Friday the 13th film (and for Freddy vs Jason they should have tried to get Dokken to do this song, and Alice to do Dream Warriors).

Horror movies should have moody synthesizer music. And nothing else. Like, not even dialogue.

If it fits the nature of the film, sure.
