After watching how amazing Cena's monologue was on last nights ESPY's, I think it's absolutely necessary for him to be champion.
While not the pioneer Hulk Hogan was, John Cena is closer to being The Rock than anyone has ever been (he has surpassed Steve Austin inside and outside of the ring). You can love him, you can hate him, but he's entertaining. He can transition to the tweener role that makes fun of people, but doesn't act like a heel when it comes to his matches. Cena is the ONLY guy on the roster, aside from Brock Lesnar, that has the recognition to make wrestling as mainstream as it was during the Monday Night Wars.
Cena should be the champ on Raw and Lesnar should have whatever belt is on Smackdown.
It's easy to say "they don't need the belts," but this is a business. In order for the business to improve as a whole, it has to be these two men that lead the company into The New Era. This is how new HUGE stars can be established and how the WWE can get the most of the last couple years these two have with the company. After a year or two with these two men on top, the company will flourish with new stars for everyone to enjoy.
It's best for business.

Eh, Cena is really good in the position he's in right now, so I think he's fine where he is.
Lesnar on the other hand.... Eh, I'd be fine with not seeing him in WWE again, quite frankly.

Those two men boldy led us into a new era like 10 years ago. I'd much rather see Cena or even Lesnar continue to pass the torch to the likes of Rollins, Styles, Ambrose...yeah, even Reigns. Cena's had the belt 15 times. One more run is almost inevitable, but it's not needed to cement him in the company or history.

It's not ideal for those of us that are, and will be, wrestling fans no matter what...but the point is to bring in new fans and create new stars. Passing the torch to Rollins, Ambrose, etc. is great...but they are not currently the mega stars that will bring in new fans. I think only Cena and Lesnar currently have that ability. It's a way for the to continue passing the torch.

Yeah I'd be way more okay with both of them putting over various new fresher talent (Owens, Cesaro, Sami, Rusev)

We can debate Cena but I don't see how anyone can argue in favor of Lesnar ever winning any sort of title in WWE again. Didn't the entire fiasco of 2014 teach us anything about not putting the title on a guy who never wrestles? I'm still trying to figure out why Lesnar in storyline was allowed to do this, considering they just mentioned Miz hadn't defended the IC in a while since he was filming Marine 5 and made him wrestle.
They might let Cena get the belt once more just to tie Flair, with the idea that Cena could put over a major new star.

Na. Both guys ushered in an era that was left behind by Rock, Austin etc... so now they need to start "returning the favor" soon.
Each guy has enough star power to build up a few people. The Shield guys are set and are the front and center stars
You now have your Samis, Owens, Cesaros, who can be used to for the upper midcard push.
The only way Cena gets the belt is to put over a young guy in a transitional reign and tie Ric Flair.
Lesnar has been built as a beast but WWE really needs to capitalize on him soon before the momentum is completely gone.

IMO, he hasn't surpassed Austin.

This idea that a single person and recognizability is what will help the company turn the tide is ridiculous.
I doubt Cena and Brock are good LONG TERM investments. They probably bump the rating when they appear once in a while, but it won't help the company when they leave or stick around too long.
How about getting competent writers? Focusing more on the strengths of everyone else? Not showcasing McMahon drama as if its 1999 again?
I can't stand Brock either. He just has to stand there and look menancing while Hey man talks then he has matches where he does the same move repedeately with a bunch of work horses that have to take his stiffness. Brock is just a name and doesn't do anything that wows me. Dude doesn't even do crunches.

It's clear that Brock prefers MMA to professional wrestling. I'd be interested in seeing him with the belt, if he were somehow simultaneously the WWE and UFC champ. That would be really cool but for obvious reasons isn't likely to happen.
Cena, I think he's doing ok just as he is right now. Keep him out of the title picture for a while and let him do his ambassador stuff and help build midcarders.
