My son (6) suggested they should add "And the loser of this match ..."
And raise their hand too

Having the winner and loser stand next to each other while raising the winners hand felt special. I like a lot of the presentation of the matches in the CWC. With the boxing style opening with the prematch instructions followed by the handshake before the bell ring and the victory announcements... though that might be a bit odd if say the heel blatantly cheats to win

If I could have one nitpick, it would be that I feel that Davairi should have been the one to advance over Lun. However, I guess it does add to the fact that on any given night, anyone can go over, plus Lun does need some more experience, and this should help him out.

I posted in another thread about how this was one of the few things I didn't like about the show each to their own though!

Davairi like Lun I see going to get time in CWC. He will get his time to shine but i'm pretty sure their was some politicking with that win in regards to WWE new China deal which I have no problem with. Everybody looked good in their own right for the first night and you can see with polishing from the PC that each guy can def be seen on TV in a few years esepcially if HHH is taking the product in that direction.

My son (6) suggested they should add "And the loser of this match ..." And raise their hand too In this day and age, that does not happen, this does: "And first runner up is... PEITOIT!"

I like it, as well. In fact, I actually think it'd be a perfect way to get a loser (preferably in the later rounds) over as a heel with him attacking the winner. Assuming that they have plans for a few of these guys besides the winner...

I find it more amusing that - after we get to know a little about Saez and Metallik in their native tongue - first thing we see is a referee yelling at them IN ENGLISH if they went over the rules and were there any questions.

That cracked me up more than it should have. I also loved the second match, Hoho looked like he was trying to ask the ref something at that time, and the ref was just like "nah, wrestle."

I really want somebody to ask a question. Dan Severn covered this in the early days of the UFC.

I really like the opening and closing of the match. Real combat sports feel. Daivari not shaking Lun's hand was easy heat.

I really want somebody to ask a question. Looked like Kota was about to, but figured, "Eh, hell with it."

It's easily the worst thing about the CWC for me, it just seems desperate (and nonsensical when there's no judges). The less wrestling tries to be MMA the less pathetic it looks, no dyed-in-the-wool 'UFC is real fighting, WWE is fake and for pussies' guy is gonna change his/her mind from seeing that, who is it for? Stop worrying about looking 'legit,' we know it's a show, just make it a good one where people's motivations for fighting are clear and consistent and match endings are believable within the parameters you've set out. I like to think there's a happy medium between Dean Ambrose losing a match when a television set blows up in his face and just copying MMA with every match starting and ending with the same visual, which puts unnecessary limits on how creative you can be. It's art, not sport.

I think it makes sense in a tournament setting to have them raise the winners hand at the end with the competitors stood next to each other.
There isn't a storyline, it's just to find the best cruiserweight so it can be treated like a proper/legit sport.
It wouldn't work on the main roster when the wrestlers are meant to hate each other.

Well, that's me exposed as someone who's never watched a full boxing match or MMA fight in his life Still think it looks weird in a wrestling context and that copying 'real' sports isn't a good look for wrestling at all. Unless it's a flash pin or you're doing a staredown/handshake afterwards, the loser standing side-by-side with the victor negates the victory somewhat in my eyes, plus on a live show the loser would either have to get up really quickly after being dropped with the finisher or there'd be a lot more waiting around than usually occurs in wrestling while they wait for them to get up.
