I keep putting off watching the last episode.
Part of me just doesn't want it to end.

So far this show is pretty good. Once you get past episode 3 you realize that they really have something here. Those Duffer brothers who created it are going to get all kinds of work now. This show is already getting almost more word of mouth support than House of Cards which kind of fell off for a lot of people after season 2.

5 episodes in and I really like it. It wears its influences on its sleeve, but that's a good thing.

I've told a bunch of people about it and was really surprised that they didn't already know about it. I figured it'd be a mega hit right away amongst Netflix users alone, but it's taken a while for it to catch on. also...

Damn that was good. That was gooooood.
So many Eighties references - E. T, Firestarter and Aliens were pretty apparent, but Joyce seriously gave me a Mrs. Brisby vibe and the involvement of a sinister laboratory made me think of Secret of NIMH. Not to mention the acting is on point.
And Will's trio of friends and Eleven are good examples of how to properly write kid heroes.

Finished the last ep finally.
I really like the way they closed it out. It gave all the warmth and good vibes you'd want from the finale of a show like that, but also kept to that dark, bizarre tone too. Great balance, especially in a time where so many shows are non-stop terrible shit happening to people.

Soundtrack to S1 is up on iTunes only now (hopefully other places soon, I'm not a fan of iTunes), but still - huzzah!

Loved it. Netflix still has not confirmed a second season. Kind of worrying since they are usually quick to announce follow up seasons. Maybe it's because perhaps the original idea that this show was originally meant to be an anthology series (like American Horror Story), but there was such a positive reaction to season 1 they may have decided to continue the story with these characters.
One issue I heard is that the boy that played Dustin voice started to break during filming of the first season. So a lot of work was done in post to clean up his vocal patterns. So that could be the problem with season 2 .. Puberty. So they may forward the setting a couple of years, so they don't have a situation like on 'Weeds' were the kid character appeared to go through puberty overnight.

Just finished watching this last night. A few thoughts:
- It's great to see a period piece that doesn't date itself. If you removed the Cold War references, changed the set designs of the families' respective homes (change the landline phones to cordless phones or 86 the landline phones all together), references to movies that were in theaters. This could have been a story set in 2016 instead of 1983. Which begs the question of why didn't they just set the show in modern times? Was it because that is when a lot of the stuff that influenced the show came out? Or was it because of the close proximity in time to the acid tests that was referenced in an episode?
- The way they wrote Michael, Will, Luke and Dustin was pitch perfect. They were able to write kids so well. They didn't write them in a patronizing way by making them smarter than they should be (despite their nerdy tendencies and the fact that they seem to be excellent students) or making them stupider than they should be (despite their youthful naïveté). They also perfectly captured the dynamic of friendship amongst boys on the cusp of adolescence and puberty takes its toll.
- I mark for Mr. Clarke.
