Finished ep 2 this morning.
Shit is popping off! Reminds me of a really long Xfiles cold open (in a good way) with early Stephen King thrown in.

I just finished the series this afternoon. On the whole, I thought it was really good, but I also think the show peaked in the first half and - without spoiling anything - sort of petered out and went off the reservation in the second half. In particular, the third episode might be the best single episode of any Netflix original series that I can ever recall. It's a phenomenal piece of storytelling from beginning to end and it alone is enough to hook you in through the entire season.
It's got hints of "E.T.", "The Goonies", "It", and "Super 8" but has more than enough creativity and originality to stand on its own. If you are nostalgic for early-1980s science fiction, then this show is definitely going to whet your appetite.

Watched ep 4 last night. For all the intriguing stuff that happened in ep 3, ep 4 was way creepier for me. Things are really amping up in general. At first I thought Wynonna was doing something really strange with her performance, but now it makes more sense in general. Originally I thought she was just being too overt or over the top with her acting, but ep 4 kinda helped me realize that her character needed to already be on the ragged edge to be in a position to actually believe what she was seeing was real (and to further justify everyone thinking she's crazy). {Spoiler}the scene with Will talking to her through the wall/gel thing was super creepy. I loved it. Reminded me of some Twilight Zone/X-files stuff. Her taking the axe to the wall was great. Made for a really stunning visual afterwards too. And the scene of the guy going into the other dimension was griping stuff Overall I'm still very pleased with how the show is progressing and am having to exercise A LOT of restraint to not watch it all at once.

I'm four episodes in and I love everything about it.
It's Spielberg meets John Carpenter meets Stephen King meets Twin Peaks meets X-Files meets Donnie Darko.
The music is incredible, too.

Man that was a great show. I tried to force myself not to binge it in one day. managed to make it to 6 episodes yesterday before I could stop. finished it up today. Everything about this, from presentation, score, acting, plot, mystery. It just works. Totally leaves me wanting more.
