That's right, it's Monday again and that means ONLY one thing... Time for another episode of the not so new, but possibly greatly improved Monday Night RAW! Could RAW keep up the momentum from last week? Who knows? All we know is that tonight, we are in Atlanta and with SummerSlam looming up ahead, it's uncertain times for many Superstars up and down the RAW roster.
Two talents though that know exactly where they're going are Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. Balor had a very happy birthday and won two matches on his RAW debut, pinning both Rusev and Roman Reigns on the way to joining Rollins as the two contenders for the brand new WWE Universal Championship, but now he may have to deal with something he had never had to contend with in NXT... Authority politics! While new General Manager Mick Foley is keeping Commissioner Stephanie McMahon in check at the moment, it's no secret that The Architect is one of Stephanie's favoured talents. Hell, Rollins got into this title match without even wrestling for the spot. Will Rollins show his hand tonight? Or will Balor get the early upper hand on his way to possibly becoming the first Prince of the Universe?
Also tonight, for the first time since WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar will be appearing on RAW. The Beast has been mired in controversy as of late due to a positive drug test during his recent UFC return, and one can only wonder what kind of mindset Lesnar will be in, especially given his SummerSlam opponent Randy Orton has not been above taking potshots at Lesnar's expense. Probably for the best that brand boundaries are in place and they won't actually interact face-to-face until SummerSlam then, isn't it? That said, woe betide anyone who crosses Lesnar tonight.
Last week saw the crowning of a brand new WWE Women's Champion, as Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte in a thrilling bout to claim that particular gold for the first time in her career. However, Charlotte has already invoked her rematch clause against The Boss for SummerSlam, and the stage is set for a bout that could even top the one from last week. In the meantime, how will the new champion and the challenger assert control in this rivalry tonight?
The New Day recently broke the record for longest reign as WWE Tag Team Champions, but before they think about getting close to Demolition's all-time company record for tag team championships, they'll have to deal with The Club. While AJ Styles may no longer be a factor on Monday night, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are no slouches in the ring, as they proved last week as they laid out the trio. Could a championship match be next?
Rusev may have lost last week in the ring, but out of it he couldn't be any bigger of a winner, marrying the lovely Lana over the weekend. But tonight it's back to work for the United States Champion, and with the likes of Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Sheamus and Neville waiting in the wings, there is no shortage of possible challengers for him... Unless he's on his honeymoon, in which case those guys will have to fight among themselves this week.
All that, and BRRRRRRAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN, TONIGHT on RAW!
