Were they footing the entire bill? I think the only reason they didn't do the tour was because it still was too costly for them even with Sony Six chipping in. I believe Sony Six was willing to pay for all of the actual costs of specifically touring in India, and all TNA had to pay was their wrestlers and employees for the work they did. TNA gave the reason of "security concerns" because this was right off the heels of the Paris attack, there was word from some insiders that it may have been due to low ticket sales, but that it shouldn't have been that because TNA wasn't on the hook for that. It wouldn't surprise me if TNA never intended to tour India and just wanted Sony's money.

I'm inclined to think they intended to at a point... then they managed to land the Pop deal and went, "Oh, ha, NOPE!" Though right now they really have no choice but to suck it up and just do it sometime in the next four months - by all accounts the Sony money is one of the main things keeping them going and they're probably going to be inclined to cut them off entirely if TNA misses doing their contractually obligated annual tour two years in a row.

"Security concerns" was a bullshit excuse. WWE was on a European tour when the Paris attack happened, and they didn't cancel or postpone any events, and then 2 months later TNA went to the UK.

I still say TNA could just least their name to Great Khali and let him run the Indian house show loop with his students. They can do it like those UK WWF tribute shows and act like the Indian wrestlers are the real thing.

I thought he had something working with his students down their already

Critical hit...to the nads... This leaves...Africa as the main international outlet or are they still hanging on somewhere in the UK? (Provided Sony drops them, of course)

So essentially, does that kill their India deal?

So essentially, does that kill their India deal? Most likely not right at this minute, but certainly puts them in hot water.

Yeah, contracts are contracts and TNA will likely get to finish out there deal, unless Sony exercises an out based on TNA's failure to tour India. It is once that deal has expired that TNA is most likely screwed as not only is WWE the more valuable property but they also tend to put in an exclusivity clause that prevents their partners from working with another company.

It's kind of incredible at this point how many things are going wrong for TNA yet they still plug along like the shitty engine that could.

So, TNA that decided that instead of taking advantage of Sony Six's generosity and show of good faith, they'd take advantage of Sony Six, and pass up the opportunity to try and tap into the potential of India was a wrestling market. This, in a time when they're short on paying customers and really any interest at all, and have a network willing to invest a lot of money into them and even cover the expensive costs needed to succeed thinking that the product will be better off for it and thus every wins, much like they burned Spike who had been paying all of the expensive high-end contracts to help out with TNA. Most shows don't get one network that committed to helping out like that, let alone a second chance at one. And now, WWE is putting feelers out into India and touring there as part of their general power grab to tap into Asia, and this buyout means that TNA is in a shitty position where they have done nothing to ingratiate themselves to a network who's by now realized that TNA has no intention of making good on its contractual promises or really doing anything in India at all, and is poised to lose their India money some point down the line and probably soon.
That's the Full Dixie if I've ever seen it.

So essentially, does that kill their India deal? Possibly so once Sony Six has the means to exercise an out clause, such as TNA failing to do their India tour by the end of the year. Once India goes, I think it's RIP TNA.

Well it doesn't surprise me
The tour was destined to fail Shera got f***ing zero reaction. Didn't ec3 also lost bookings in England because he had to do something regarding India?

The lesson here: if the opportunity to do something arises, see it through. If you put it off, you will pay the price.
