I don't want this to become a hate fest on the guy, for both the mods & for everybody else's sake. It's more of admitting disappointment.
I mean, he wrestles good and everything, but I'm not so hot on Finn right now, because I just don't see the personality he has. And, the Demon persona is exclusive to pay per view events, so I likely won't get to see that often myself.
Maybe I was expecting too much?

Give him time. Whether you end up liking him or not, he's too new on the main roster to make a definitive decision yet. Give him a year or so, maybe more, and then decide, if it ends up being important to you either way.

I think that's fair. If somebody hasn't seen NXT they have what... like 25 minutes of footage total on the guy who is wrestling for the Federated Milky Way Galactic Empire Championship at Summerslam?

His segment last night was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in a while. And he looks like such a goof in the demon get-up.
I'm not a big Seth Rollins fan but I hope he beats this dude at Summerslam.

Maybe expecting too much yeah.
He's a solid talent but I never felt he was a superstar when it came to in-ring talent. The demon stuff is great for action figures and T-shirts which is probably a huge part of his push.

Yeah. He wrestles good. He's also the #FineAssWhiteBoy wrestler that I would normally like. But I just don't find him all that interesting.
The only real reason I want him to win the Universal Title is so that we can have a bit of a break from The Shield.

He's good in the ring and he's over, so that's like 90% of the battle won already... But I think Balor's main issue is in how they've tried making the body paint an actual separate personality within him, but rarely does it come through as such in the matches he has in the paint.
Plus, as it pertains to this specific board, there has to be a bit of a meme factor in play to some extent based on Magic's comically OTT criticism of the man.

I was already getting tired of him in NXT, but now it's like he finds a way to do something really lame each week.
Week #1: HEH, I'M IRISH. I DON'T NEED LUCK. Week #2: I'M GONNA HAND U UR ASS Week #3: I'M THE DEMON KING

I wish his demon outfit was a bit better, something along the lines of Drago in LU rather than the weird felt dreadlock thing he has going.

Nope, that is about it. Dude is solid in the ring but bland as all hell. On top of that, the Demon bullshit gets old fast since it means nothing more than a long f***ing entrance and some body paint. Every thing is there for Finn to be a major star but they still haven't figured out how to use it all.

Eh give it time. Like yeah he's pretty bland and his run in NXT felt like 10 years. But to be fair he's only been on the main roster for 3 weeks and thus how it's been so far:
Week 1: Wrestle two matches in which you didn't expect him to win either of them.
Week 2: Seth Rollin cuts a long 10-15 minute promo and Balor responds back with 3-5 minutes of mic time ending with a I'm going to kick your arse response.
Week 3: A pretaped promo about The Demon which was a introduction video to anyone who hasn't seen him in NXT.
Like damn we make fun of Vince McMahons short attention span ADD yoyo push booking but sometimes I think we're even worse.

Just so I dont' have to open a different thread, I'll leave this here:
not only I don't like Balor as a character, but I even dislike his wrestling style.
Even the most basic finisher moves (Daniel Bryan's High Knee, Sami Zayn's Hellovakick) have some intensity and payoff in their executions, but Balor's Coup de Grace is just a double stomp on the crotch of the opponent, wich also makes Balor look like he misses and falls on his back. It's just ridiculous.
To make a harsh comparison, Del Rio's double stomp is stupid for how forced it looks... but at least Del Rio stands on his feet after hitting it!

Finn isn't my favorite, but I think he's fine for the most part. If he channeled more of the Great Muta with his demon persona it would seem less superficial. I still dig his entrance and music and thought it was legitimately one of the coolest things I'd seen in wrestling when I watched it the first time. I don't know how his talking skills are so sub par after being in the business for as long as he has, but they need to stick him with some coaches. If he rounds out those shortcomings, I think he can be a star. I'm just pleased the company is actually investing in him, and based on aspects other than "he's tall, has muscles, and yells."

During the years of the original "NXT 5" who raised NXT's profile to what it is now, we were excited to have him on because WWE was starving for prime in-ring talent. But since WWE has hired so much elite talent since then, he just isn't special anymore.

He either needs to stop using 800 dropkicks per match or they need to play up how he is a master of them like Cesaro is with uppercuts.
Then they can sell the Coup De Grace as a downward dropkick and that is why it is so damned deadly coming from him.
also, for a signature spot, he uses the slingblade way too damned much. I have seen him pop it off 4 times in a match.
He needs to diversify his moveset, and diversify the demon from his regular moveset.

They were phasing that to a two count and making the 1916/Bloody Sunday brain buster his finish toward the end of NXT. That was one of the small things they were starting to get right with him and I really hope they don't go backward.

I don't know what it is but it feels like he's being what the company wants him to be than himself but even when he's himself it feels like we're "missing something" because I don't see it. I don't know how he was in New Japan but judging people's comments he was similar to a Prime Jericho, I don't know. I get a feeling that if he were a heel and left to his own devices he'd be better than he is today. I don't want to see them trying to shove this "he's a demon man" thing down my throat, I don't want them to shove this "yeah Finn's that dude y'all he's the new guy" down my throat either. I just want Finn to be who I've always heard he was: a dude who can wrestle well, talk well and is very creative.
In layman's terms, Finn feels like an indie artist who's signed to a big label and they tell him to make a single that he wouldn't normally make rather than saying "ok do you and whatever happens happens."

That's not my point if you watched him before. I'm talking about giving up on a guy who has been on the main roster for less than a month. For example Rusev. I watched NXT and FCW back when he was boring and bland as f*** with below average ring skills. Hell I even found him boring as hell during the first few months of his main roster run and everyone including me thought Lana was going to be the star and Rusev will have a dancing gimmick by the time 2016 arrives. And boy was I ever f***ing wrong. But even if my educated guess is Balor will be lame and bland on the main roster as he was on NXT which is my educated guess, I just find it weird and dumb to go overly judgmental after only one month since it's a blank state for him and being in a new environment and crowd and new bosses to answer too. Getting over on the main roster is more challenging than the Full Sail Crowd especially if you have indy cred so you know let's wait and see if he can get over by developing a personality and without Papa HHH's 100% supervision.
