The best is when they get rejected. You can pinpoint the exact second where the proposer's heart breaks in half on regional (sometimes national!) television.
Anyway, I'm not a fan because I think marriage proposals should be done in private.

Whatever works. Maybe it's all about timing and they happened to be going to a game right when he was gonna propose. So more power to him.

Not how I think I'd do it, but if it works for them, excellent. I am not a big sports fan, so it wouldn't be a place with a lot of significance to me, and I think I'd feel like I was pressuring them too much to say yes with such a setup.

By the way, is this about the Chinese swimmer who proposed to his girlfriend after she won a silver at the Olympics? If so, I think that's pretty badass

I wouldn't have, my wife isn't a sports fan at all.
But, if you wanna do it, knock yourself out.

Yep that's the problem, it would take guts to say no in that type of situation. I wonder how many say yes in front of the crowd/cameras only to tell them to f*** off once they're alone. That said if it's basically a formality they'll say yes then I guess it's OK.

A college friend was proposed too at an MLB game. She said yes because she didn't want to look like the biggest bitch in the universe in front of a city where she needs to maintain an image for her job.
She told the guy no later that night. She said at the time that it was too soon. They had only been dating about 8 months. She's a fan of the "i want to see every holiday" method.
I think it's one of those "Awww it's so cute" things on the surface when it works. But knowing somebody on the wrong side of one, it's about the same as getting stripped to your underwear and marched out in front of your peers. Her description of it made it sound like a nightmare.
I think it works best for couple that have already talked about marriage and stuff and more or less have already agreed, but just haven't have the "moment" happen yet. I assume that's the normal anyway. Or do people still blindly throw out proposals to people not expecting them at all in this day and age?
For the record, I feel I should add that they got married about 2 years later.

Speaking as somebody who has been in a relationship for the past 15 years without getting married, maybe I'm not the best person to have an opinion on proposing!
