So what are the most powerful songs you've heard in video games? Not necessary best songs if it is an actual real song you've heard or most catchy but songs that had emotional impact that made the game resonate more with you. I have three candidates:
1. Metal Gear Solid - The Best Is Yet To Come. After the crazy nature of the game and the heavy impact it had, especially at the time of release, this song at the end just really impacted me and to this day, is one of my all time favourite songs after all these years:
2. Credits - Life is Strange. I first heard this tune during the credits of Episode 1 of Life is Strange and it had the same impact as the Metal Gear track. It has become the tune I associate with Life is Strange and, honestly, all these point and click type games:
3. The Partisan - Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. I only heard this recently after completing this DLC pack and Jesus, it goes from a mellow sounding acoustic track to this doom metal type track. It coming in during the end credits only emphasises the pain you feel when BJ goes thinking he was finishing at the end of the DLC leading into the real game. Brilliant use of music:
Any tunes you all think had the same impact on you?

Say what you will about Quiet being too fanservice-y as a character, but for me this theme hit like a goddamn freight train.

The Love theme from Mother 3.
I don't even wanna put the link up because I know it'll hit me hearing just the first few notes.

A game with an underrated OST, especially this song which really captures the haunting tragedy of a battlefield beautifully.

Lots of Double Dragon music. Like someone said on a long-gone website, the intro screen music when applied to the final scene gives it that much more kick. I also like the first mission music in arcade DD2, as well as the ominous Mission 4 DD2.
First stage, first boss, and second stage of arcade Contra always made me want to come out firing.
First stage Legendary Wings (arcade, preferred)
Death Adder theme, Golden Axe 1.
Superman arcade....hey it's (mostly) the John Williams score.

This song always reminded me of my teenage years. Something so simple yet so powerful.
After beating the final boss, this song plays as you make your way back home. It really feels like a victory lap but also a trip down memory lane. Seeing parts of the game that make you go "Oh yeah I remember that!" Also all of the NPCs having different dialogue congratulating you. You really felt like a hero, yet there's a thought knowing that it's the end of the adventure. I'm not going to lie, the closer I got back to returning home, the harder it was to fight tears. Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to say goodbye.
It really felt like all the hard work and time you put to get to save the giants has at last came down to this moment. You really felt like you were mankind's only hope, as if everyone is praying for you. It feels very rewarding and is perfect for setting you up for the last area of the game.

Mad world in GOW 3. I had no idea what was gonna happen with Dom, but when it did that instrumental added so much to it....I cried....multiple times.
Don't know if this counts but both of the original fallout opening scenes. Maybe and Kiss to build a dream on really set the mood for the world you were about to enter.

Seriously one of the best pieces of music in not just gaming, but in all media. Metal Gear Solid Series has the best music of all video games. 2nd is Zelda

"You're Not Alone!" From Final Fantasy IX is a great tune on its own, but becomes so much stronger in the context of the scene it's used in.
Equal parts heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Yeah, definitely the song when you first go to Mexico in Red Dead Redemption. Man, that came out of nowhere and was amazing.

I'd encourage everyone to go see the Legend of Zelda symphony series. Hearing the songs in the game is one thing, but hearing it live really is a whole different experience.
One of my personal favorites is Eyes on Me from Final Fantasty VIII. Squall's and Rinoa really resonated with me.

There are a lot of great songs I've heard that left quite the impact on me, but if I had to name one...
Hopes and Dreams from Undertale is one of those songs that gives you, well, hope. Not to mention it also features an excellent reprise of another song from the game. It's the kind of song that just makes you want to keep going, no matter what stands in your way.
