Played Spartan: Total Warrior on the Gamecube far too much. It's like Golden Axe but with roman centurions to eviscerate, it's really therapeutic.

I used to play the hell out of this and (foolishly) sold my copy. I really need to pick it up again.

Anyone remember a game on the Playstation called Tail of the Sun. The goal of the game is more or less to hunt down mammoths and then use their bones to build a tower to the sky. In between that you're left to explore the world where you can hunt down other animals for food. It was my first experience at an open sandbox type of game and I really played the heck out of it way back then.

How obscure would Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines be considered? If so, I played and still play that game on a frequent basis. It's amazing how well they did in capturing the tone of the World of Darkness. If only they'd been able to complete everything they had hoped to include (the Sabbat ending is the biggest thing that leaps to mind)...

I don't think it's obscure anymore since Game Grumps played it, but my sis and I played Ribbit King on the gamecube all the time when we were kids.

Urban Reign on the PS2. First saw it on the demo disc that came with Soul Calibur 3, and I've been a fan ever since. It didn't get great reviews, mostly because some of the story missions are ridiculously and unfairly hard, even on the easiest difficulty, but everyone I've ever shown this game to had fun playing it.

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure on PS2. It's literally just the Tony Hawk games with the cast of Toy Story, Lion King, & Tarzan. That's my daughters favorite game! She's 18 now but we must have had the game for about 15 years. Our version was for the original Xbox. My obscure game is Zero Tolerance for Genesis. I still enjoy playing the first first person shooter for a console.

My list of obscure games:
-Fool's Errand on the Mac -Subterrania for the 2600 - excellent Defender clone -Torneko no Daiboken for the SNES (Japan only) -Torneko: The last hope for PSX (and I still play it 20 years later) -not sure if obscure, but Gunstar Heroes for Sega Genesis. Mega Man/Contra game with amazing graphics for its time.

I was very young when I played an arcade game called Trojan that was hooked up in the waiting area of a restaurant when I was a kid. My family would go there a couple times a month and I'd play it every time. I was surprised it got released for NES through Capcom so I immediately asked my parents for it when I saw it at Toys R Us. They could see how badly that I really wanted it and got it for me. It's a very simple game but I liked the style of it. I had a lot of fun playing this game that none of my friends knew anything about. I went on to become a big fan of side scrolling games like Rolling Thunder and Double Dragon because of this game. You can see the entire play through in under ten minutes here. youtu.be/p9lK6KWzSxw

If we're talking arcade games, I've got a couple -
-early in my arcade gaming discoveries I remember playing a tank game named Pulsar at a local pizza place. I don't think I've seen it since.
-one of my three "go-to" games at the mall arcade was a side scroller named Pyros. I think it was also released under the name "Wardner" for some reason.
-I wish I could remember of a DBZ-esque side scroller that I played in a bowling alley. I remember that you could fight hand-to-hand but all throw fireballs dragonball style, but it was NOT a Dragonball game.
....anyone here play Polybius?

I still fire up Riddick Bowe Boxing for the SNES, or his non union Mexican equivalent Chavez. Just a solid boxing game. You get 40 fights before your guy has to retire. His hair even starts to grey the older he gets. You go from bingo halls all the way up to the Vegas casinos.
And Chavez gets bonus points because of the real advertising in the background of the arenas. Its a nice little touch.

Another obscure game I enjoyed playing:
Mercenary Force - Gameboy: Weird shogun auto-scrolling shoot em up where you can take any 4 of any 5 as your force as you take on a demon/oni invasion of feudal far east: Priest, Ninja, Samurai, Monk & Soldier. Surprisingly good and very hard.

I love obscure old fighting games and there's a bunch i played constantly.
Killing Zone-It's basically a 3-D version of Darkstalkers if it were made by folks that had no idea what a fighting game was. Terrible game but good for a few laughs.
TokiDensho Angel Eyes-Incredibly fast paced game that has 2-D hand drawn characters fighting against 3-D polygonal characters. Weird mix but somehow it works with the controlled chaos of the gameplay.
Dynasty Warriors- The first game in the series and the only one that wasn't a 3rd person hack and slash game. Quite hard to find these days but it is really fun and looks great for a PS1-era game.
Destrega-Incredibly fun free roaming fighter with a heavy emphasis on projectiles and long-range combat in gorgeous open arenas.

Another obscure Amiga one I played .. Well never the full game, just a demo version that came with a magazine. Was 'Wild Cup Football (soccer)'
The game is set in some fantasy relm and it's basically soccer without any rules. Just tackle the shit out of each other, get weapons and spells, and matches ended in a shoot-out (no, not a penalty shoot out, a shootout with shotguns). Never played the full thing. Teams were humans, lizard men, aardvarks and others. It was fun.

I dunno how obscure it is but I never see it mentioned It was basically Resident Evil but instead of zombie horror it's Under Siege 2. Probably got panned by game magazines and shit like that but I enjoyed it.
