Just watched this for the first time in years. I used to have it on a VHS with Howard The Duck -- a tape that got a lot of use when I was a kid.
It's a weird movie, because it really hasn't aged well, but a lot of that is more on the format than content.
It's a movie that just couldn't be done today, because with smartphones, pictures and videos of the ship would be all over Facebook and Twitter in MINUTES.
Also, this is how old the DVD copy I have is. The advertised special features are Spanish and French subtitles.

Great movie. It isn't on any streaming service (as part of the included package). One of these days I need to find a DVD so my kids can enjoy its cheesy glory.

Yeah, the specimen collected are usually taken back to the point they were grabbed and returned, so it was like they were never gone, however, Max, the ship's AI was unsure that David could survive the trip, so when he was returned, 8 year had passed.

I remember him meeting up with his little brother at the end and everything was normal

I've thought for years it's a flick that's ripe for a remake.

I've pissed off people here for doing less. I've been watching scenes on youtube. I haven't seen it in years. One scene I had stuck in my head and couldn't remember what it was from. so that's a good thing.

Minor trivia note: a TV seen in the movie is tuned to The Price Is Right...but not the Bob Barker version. It was the nighttime version of the time, hosted by Tom Kennedy.
/Adam Nedeff would be proud.

It was a very common practice from the early 90s, going back to the 60s even, for a game show that was popular to have a network version and a syndicated one. This is how we got the Dennis James version of TPIR in the '70s, and Match Game and Match Game PM.

'You're the one who leaks, Navigator...'
I'm amazed I've only seen this once, I'm quite sure it's not been on TV very often. Also, the young lab assistant (I think that's what she was) who tells David he's cute was played by a very young Sarah Jessica Parker.

This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid, but I can't remember what part it was and don't wish to revisit it.

A great little movie that frequently aired at Christmas in my neck of the woods.
