My current job is ...Okay. But the management is so bad,I basically work as if I was on my own.And everything is just so souless and i really have no will to go there(even if i still manage to find ways to entertain myself). But I still like doing it on my spare time...just not for work.
Not sure if someone ever was in a similar situation.

I'll just say this: I love what I do, but it's more political than f***ing congress. Dealing with the backstabbing and nepotism has definitely made me reconsider how long I wanted to do it.

All I ever wanted to be was a newspaper reporter. Went to college, worked internships, even worked at Fox Sports. But time spent at a penny-pinching medium circulation newspaper killed my love for the business.
I wanted to write stories and find truth. They cared about the sensational stuff. The politics in the newsroom was unbearable. Everyone was posturing to keep their jobs. Eventually I found another career and settled in quite happily.
The key that I've found is that my career isn't my identity. It's just a job and something I do to pay bills and enable the real things that matter in my life, which is my family. I invest Monday through Friday to be able to enjoy my weekends and shut work out completely. I just don't care. I still take pride in my job and do my best, but when the workday is over, so is my connection to work.

If it's a start-up and the word "influencer" pops up more than five times in a single workday, run.

wanted to work in a pet store forever. Then I had to sell animals to people who obviously shouldn't be allowed to have animals. It felt like assisted abuse.

I went to school for graphic design. I've been an artist since I was a kid. I haven't been in school since the mid 2000's. I currently work as security officer. School killed my desire to be an artist. Mainly because I didn't have the direction early pre-college thatI needed to pursue my what I liked to do over than simply "go to school, graduate, success". I can't say that I've missed the boat, but can say that experience has triggered a massive case of sea sickness. I've done small art projects here and there, but not at the level I once desired.

I love what I do, but I've seen some really talented people get out of the industry because it sucks. Journalism is a rough, rough industry and I know so many people in it looking for work right now.

I wanted to be a chef and own a restaurant all through high-school.
I worked and cooked at a pair of places and loved all the "non-people related" parts of the job. I could order supplies, cook, clean, manage the books and take care of the place easy. I even enjoyed working with the staff and keeping the flow going.
Then I was introduced to the ugly side. The side where people are always stealing plates/shakers/everything that isn't tied down. The side where somebody rubs shit all over the bathroom wall. The side where your 'best' waiter was caught feeding all his buddies for free. The side where you leave for 2 days to go to a funeral, you come back and half the things on the salad bar are rancid.
yeah. I loved 80% of the industry. To this very day I consider getting back into it. Then I remember. I remember the shit. Makes you realize why food trucks and stands are becoming more popular. You eliminate a lot of the big problems from day 1 that way.

I was in a band that got signed, where I was the only female member. Cue the label wanting me front and centre on stage despite being the bassist, and wanting me to flirt with everyone because bisexuality is hot.

I love my job, I love working with the difficult patients. However, between the blatant politics and favoritism, along with the stress, I'm beginning to hate going in every day.

Well, if I can make it another 15 years at the Post Office. I'll be eligible for retirement.....but I doubt that's going to happen. It's a terrible, borderline hostile work environment. Management are f***ing brain dead, the Union is useless, a lot of the fellow employees are assholes, and there are even more politics at play than WCW.
It blows, if you're considering working for them....don't. You can do better.

You eliminate a lot of the big problems from day 1 that way. I have worked in the kitchen for about 15 years, right now I'm 2nd in charge of our kitchen. I always make sure the quality is just as high as when the chef is there. But I will admit the floor doesn't run as smoothly when the owner is not there. However, it is no where near what you are talking about. I think the key to running/owning a restaurant is finding people you can trust to run it when you are not there. There is a reason many Chefs will take their Sous Chef and Maitre D everywhere they go. Many employees will try to get away with whatever they can, even many good ones. So you need someone to run the show when you are gone. Leaving them to their own devices is never good. But I can certainly understand running a food truck. Less overhead and costs, you can oversee everything and when you need time off you simply don't run the truck. If I ever had the money I would love to run a truck and even if I became a millionaire I would probably not want the headache of owning a restaurant even though I could probably get the right staff.

I'm a civil servant, and work in a Government call centre in England. I took this job four years ago as the one I was doing was removed in job cuts, and it's turned out better than expected as I genuinely enjoy my job - I help members of the public daily and get to have a laugh with people who are more friends than colleagues.
However, management always seem to want to interfere for no reason - things can run quite smoothly as we manage ourselves and do a very good job. We don't need any help, but management offer 'suggestions' even though they don't do the job. We always rise to the occasion, at which point they change the goal posts once more. There's a round of voluntary redundancy coming up soon, and I'm going to apply as I don't see the call centre job being made more enjoyable any time soon.

I am a cashier, and while customers can be mean (one called me useless, a few weeks ago), management and coworkers are awesome to me. I had a seizure Monday night, and called out yesterday. I went back today, and everyone is making sure I am okay. I really appreciate that.

I love web design and have been doing it on and off freelance for for over a decade, but I absolutely loathe dealing with customers who don't really know what they want, or worse, don't understand why it's not possible for them to have what they're demanding.
I could transition into a career just working backend stuff and leave someone else to deal with the customer service part, but I don't find that aspect of the job particularly satisfying and I'd end up bored of it before long.

Jobs? No, not yet. In fact, my one job in a writing field (proofreading), I enjoyed very much and learned a lot.
Now, classes? Yes. I remember being interested in psychology and wanting to be a psychologist and wanting to help others in that way. But then the class came around and needing to know theories and who they were attributed to and whatnot...it bothered me because, yes, I do need to understand those theories and that people might be in that frame of mind, but why did I need to know so much about the person that came up with it? In what way does being able to attribute a theory to a person help a patient? I understand, to some degree it can (and I'm not looking to get into a deep psychological conversation about it here) but there was SO much emphasis to the source of these theories and ideas as opposed to how they can be applied to a person, a group or an event, that it shut me off.

Ive been a bartender for a long time. While I still enjoy the profession, and the money, there are days where I am painfully aware that I might as well be a babysitter at a daycare.
For every great regular that I have great conversations with, Ive got 4 Bro's and THOTs making me want to smack them.
