Good article, but the easy counterpoint is where would Gall be now if Punk had never gotten into UFC? Probably fighting in the prelims and years away from getting a shot at fighting on the main card, if he ever would. Now the kid has some momentum to potentially launch a solid career. Punk doesn't necessarily deserve any respect, but his ill-fated flirtation with MMA has produced at least one positive.

Remember Punk was whining that the likes of Cena, Rock and Taker got paid more than him for WM29 and he was mocking Gall for earning more than him for this fight? Guy is a f***ing dick.

Anyone else getting tired of hearing the phrase "chasing his dreams" as a means to justify what happened? That was no dream. That was a freaking nightmare.

Nobody "dreams" of getting Donkey Kong'ed in the octagon. If he wanted to be in the octagon, he should have been an announcer and done post fight commentary. What he really "dreamed" of was winning, getting his hand raised and getting carried out of the arena with the entire place chanting "CM PUNK". We all dream that. However, a strong self belief can only get you so far. Punk helped remind me of that. He let all old f***ers know they can't step foot in the UFC arena, or play in the NFL, or NBA. Like the opposite of that baseball movie "The Rookie" (Where the 40 year old coach goes on to play in the MLB for a season...). They should make a movie about it, "The Bookie". Where Dana White books an overzealous retired 38 year old pro-wrestler against a young and hungry killer, determined to become a champion. Where Punk sits in his million dollar house, with his beautiful wife and gets up to practice 2 times a day at a local gym for a couple of months, then takes some time off to get surgery because of the evil Ryback, then goes back to practice, and then leaves practice to do some ComicCon signings, and then goes back to practice, and then loses his friendship with his best friend ("Hi, Colt Cabana") because of publicly slandering his former employee's doctor, and then goes back to practice, and then goes on repeated media interviews for the UFC despite not having any fights, and then extends the fight out a couple of UFCs because of the injury and then...the fight happens. And then Punk loses in 2 minutes. The End. #Don'tletyourdreamsbedreams

At the end of the day Punk will likely make more money out of 1 fight than most fighters will make out of several YEARS. On top of his laundry list of injuries, his age and no prior fight experience he shouldn't of even been allowed near an octagon. All of this just for 1 spiked PPV buyrate, so no Punk gets no sympathy out of me whatsoever.

No one subject makes wrestling fans sound more like jaded ex-girlfriends than CM Punk. He did get his ass kicked though.

500,000$
I wish dude would have missed weight so Gall got some of his cash. That's absurd.

That's pretty absurd. As is the idea that a champion got paid that much less than the challenger he beat within a round.

Probably the easiest 15k Gall will ever make in his life.
