How is this even a question? It has been, very literally, one of the longest running complaints and problems with TNA, from almost the very beginning.

Yes. The list of potential stars that the company pissed away is quite impressive

AJ and Roode above all others. AJ gave close to half his life to TNA, was with them from day one, was one of their most decorated performers, and was the one guy so many fans associated with the brand more than any other-and HE'S the one they ask to take a pay cut for the good of the promotion? Especially after all the money they had blown on the Hogan/Bischoff fiasco! Very much so and this quote is the perfect example why. Now adding my opinions on the Topic. The one thing that has always bothered me is that people like saying let so and so leave because that done all they can there, let them go back to the WWE or to the WWE. AJ Styles has done it all in TNA but he was the one guy who as a company not only pushed in the ME and kept him there but NEVER ask him to take a pay cut or low ball him or say they don't have anything for him in an angle, I ask HOW is that even possible? If you can bring in these ex WWE guys you can give him the money he deserves. More so when AJ is the guy you know will deliver in the ring and make just about anybody look good. The fact he went to the WWE and went directly to the ME on the MAIN roster say something about just how good he is. Roode and Joe are in the same boat, how can you not pay these guys or owe them cash but still we see these ex WWE getting signed and paid. The originals guys that really put everything out there and became stars on there own really based on ablity should always been to focus. TNA would been in better situation now money wise because the talent budget wouldn't be a bunch over priced names which more then half was. I still say a handful of name guys where worth the signing and investment. Must of them was a waste.

Yep. Make no mistake about it, AJ Styles should have been their Hogan, Sting, Cena, etc. He should have been THE face of TNA.

As far as coming into his own he finally found the gimmick and look that worked for him. Obviously Dixie wasn't talking about that tho. They had many instances of strapping him to the moon and they kept derailing him and acting like he was someone they didn't know what to do with. AJ should of been their superstar and through their shortsightedness they allowed him to go out and prove to everyone he is really that damn good and now he's in WWE tearing up the scene since he got there

I remain steadfast the end of the line for TNA was the moment that they gave Kaz that main event push against Angle in 2007 for that exact reason. Whether or not Kaz was good enough, or a worthy person of elevation against Angle, was not the issue. The issue there was that Kaz WAS a TNA original, that got the same treatment as TNA originals- left TNA, went to WWE for a super-short cup of coffee, found himself back in TNA...but even a three week Velocity run of no acclaim was enough to make Kaz "worthy" of a main event push. Even if Kaz was good, that moment made it clear- the very worst WWE performer is better than the very best TNA performer, and if you want to be a top TNA star, quit, go to WWE, then come back and we'll push you. But dude was an undercard geek for several months before they saw something in him and decided to push him. I mean, you can make that argument for a LOT of people but Kaz really isn't one of them. Especially since they treated him like one of their originals by just giving up on his push half-way through and bringing him back as Suicide because they had a shitty video game to promote. Doesn't even change the same thing. Yes, Serotonin was a bad gimmick and potentially career-killing. That's the whole point. Serotonin DID suck. And it was a group that was a worthless joke in TNA. And yet, for some reason, TNA saw fit to push one of the three Serotonin lackeys as a big star for them. Okay, a little elevation, even if the three may not have been worried. Which do you pick of the group. Matt Bentley, who had flashes of overness (at least as a meme) for them? Johnny Devine, who had never been tested as anything resembling a threat yet? ...or, the guy who came back from WWE? If you say Serotonin was "equal" for him, then it also has to be said that BECAUSE Serotonin was so bad, that made Kaz's push even MORE blatant than it already would be.

It's not just Dixie, though; this has been a core trait of TNA since day 1. Whoever they started with and whoever started with them, they were never as important as the surprise run-in from a familiar face.

Some guys were booked well at times though (AJ, Beer Money, Roode and Storm separately), but they didn't hold on to them enough, rather push the next WWE guy coming in
Also, some WWE guys deserved the big fanfare at first, but overstayed their welcome and were "overpushed" (Angle always getting the title, Kennedy in 2011, Jeff Hardy redemption story in 2011/12, RVD in 2010,Hogan in the spotlight way too many times, Foley getting the title in 09)

No question about it. TNA is basically that one kid we all knew at some point, the one who had all the cool stuff only to get bored (or break it) and go off to buy more.

Now did DDP do anything else worth a mention in TNA besides that Raven/Erik Watts thing? I honestly can't remember, but that three way storyline with the gangbang backstory was proper great - and to think it wasn't even Ruce's creation.

Even if they pushed Kazarian because of his cup of coffee in WWE, they still squandered whatever momentum he got from the Christian Cage ladder match or being Kurt Angle's alternate in a three-way main event to make him a shitty video game character. Besides, I remember the super-push very well. And let's just say guys like Kurt Angle wouldn't be stuck feuding with Black Reign and being relegated to having Rat on a Pole matches.

They absolutely did. Guys like AJ, Joe, and Daniels busted their asses to put TNA on the map, and then once they'd gotten there, TNA brought in a bunch of WWE wash-ups to soak in the rewards. The only reason Kurt Angle stayed relevant for 10 years after WWE is because AJ and Joe built a company for him.
