I'll never get past the "Coming into his own" line about AJ. It's just so Dixie. Right, like it was justified they didn't put all their eggs in the AJ basket because Dixie said he was coming into his own. It's such a laughable statement

TNA is amazing. I don't think I've ever seen a company so horrible at putting over it's own history and stars as something memorable. You can't even call them a promotion because they don't know how to promote.

Hold on I found my original posts from the JR/Dixie podcast thread about that line. I'm starting a new thread so we don't hijack this one where we can discuss this a year and a half removed.

Far as I can tell, TNA nor Dixie's twitter have said anything about AJ's win last night. Like not a congratulations or anything. ROH congratulated him via twitter. Not sure if it's interesting, but thought it worth mentioning since I do believe they tweeted something after he was in the Rumble.

I wont fault them for not congratulating him but a public gesture would of been nice for a little goodwill on their end.

Dixie will be asked about this someday and she'll do her spiel about how WWE loves them and loves their talent before citing examples such as AJ, Sting, The Dudleys as "Homegrown TNA" guys who WWE poached. This time she will be correct in her way of thinking.

Dixie - "What's there to complain about sug, we let him headline. Remember that great Claire Lynch baby daddy storyline we gave him. Talk about ungrateful".

That bit about TNA not being a promotion because they don't know how to promote is so hilariously true. I think that's why it is so rewarding to see Styles and the various NXT guys (Joe, Roode, Aries) doing well, because while TNA's booking and promoting has always been a joke, the talent in the ring certainly hasn't been.
TNA could get away with booking AJ like crap for years because at the time there was nowhere really for him to go. WWE had little interest in him for most of his TNA run (and frankly not much after he initially left TNA). It really wasn't until WWE started being more interested in his type of wrestler that they wanted him.

Let's see the improvements Dixie made by saving the money and not paying AJ.
She brought in MVP who got fired by John Gaburick's stupidity She brought back Hernandez who got them in legal troubles and had to lose hours of the taped shows. She brought in Mike Knox who didn't raise a nickle. She brought in Bram who didn't exactly captured people's imaginations. She brought in Mandrews who left for New Japan.
Do you see the trend here? Do you see the importance of AJ? He was the soul of tna and him leaving was the first fatal blow they had. If he retires right now he'll be most remember for his one year in wwe than his whole tna tenure.

AJ is an amazing talent and seems like a good person. But I worry that I am only as fanatically supportive of his WWE push because of Dixie I watched him in TNA year after year after year be presented like he was a rookie who had potential but wasn't ready. He was obviously the best wrestler on the roster. And the fact that he never got that respect bothers me. I want him to get everything in WWE to make up for it. Nothing is too much and I never want to see him lose or be pushed out of the main event ever. If Dixie hadn't personally oppressed him for a decade I don't think I would feel nearly as strongly about him.

Not sure if it's interesting, but thought it worth mentioning since I do believe they tweeted something after he was in the Rumble. They only tweeted about the Rumble because they had pulled that bullshit stunt beforehand where they claimed AJ and the Club were with them. After that massive backlash, where people saw that TNA was just trying to sabotage AJ's debut, they had to post something positive. The problem for TNA is they didn't do any tweets like that before then, and haven't done any other tweets like that, so it was obvious why the did it. ROH congratulates their former guys all the time, ROH will tweet congratulations when one of their guys debuts in WWE, wins a title, or has a great match. That's just one of the many reasons that ROH has a good relationship with WWE, and WWE has no problem mentioning ROH on Raw, Smackdown, and everything else.
