People already expecting the defenders of this nonsense to feel validated if RDR2 gets 100 on Metacritic. I've already seen one person on a Discord say that Jim's opinion is invalidated by not being in the game industry. But then I'm not surprised because this dude tends to be a complete stan for companies like Activision and EA.

As we approach the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has found itself in controversial waters yet again. This time it's regarding crunch, and the now infamous "100 hour work week" interview.
Yes, it's time to go back to the crunch!

I will never for the life of me understand how anyone with even the slimmest of moral compasses could ever justify crunch time. Put the game out when it's ready, we'll still be here.

The "AAA" game industry loves its lavish detail, from intricate gameplay systems to dazzling graphics. Can they go too far though? Absolutely they can.
Games like Red Dead Redemption 2 are impressive productions, but all that detail can get in the way of the entertainment. Let's look at which games go so far that they produce what I call "Holy Grail Fog."

Well the Activision stocks gonna take a hit after today I'm sure... and I'm sure Jim's going to mention it on Monday... for those that don't know "the big super secret Diablo project" was announced game for mobile phones... not only that but a reskin of a game that's already out in China... Blizzard thought this was a big enough announcement for their giant gaming convention filled with hardcore gamers... it went over about as well as you'd expect. damned Blizzard are horribly out of touch... this is the Diablo section immediately following the announcement apparently. I've said for a while it's pretty damned obvious Blizzard doesn't have enough content to justify having a massive conference every year... this just pretty much clinches it...

They have their own conference? I guess they need to spend all that extra money they don't actually need on something.

Yeah, Blizzcon they've been running it since 2005 because they decided they were too cool for e3. It's been a letdown more times than it's been at all interesting and most of their announcements could have easily been just regular trailer drops. I mean overwatch's big news was a new hero... which happens like every 4 months.

The announcement video had so many dislikes they had to take it down Hell, they put one cinematic trailer up, it got so downvoted it ended up unlisted, so they put up another one that got even more downvotes.

Time for an oldie, but a goodie:
EA: We're ruining a classic PC franchise by bringing it back as a cruddy mobile game.
Activision/Blizzard: Hold my beer.

I'm more shocked at the reaction some members of the media are having to the whole debacle, but then I think "They're Americans. And they're on Twitter." and I get less surprised.

Nobody gets excited for mobile games. What were they thinking ? Oh I'm sure plenty of people got excited for this game. They're just on the other side of the Pacific.
Blizzcon was the wrong venue to announce this game, especially as it was hyped up as the only real major announcement, and it was a massive PR blunder. But this thing's going to make bank especially in China and South Korea, where mobile gaming is THE primary source of gaming. Their phones are also superior to ours in terms of power and battery life, along with having cooling systems.
As for Blizzcon itself, it's become more of a giant social gathering of Blizzard nerds than a show for big reveals anymore. There's panels for what's coming up and shit, but then there's the community nights, the cosplay contest with some really impressive costumes, the exclusive merch, the concerts, etc.

If this was just announced yesterday as like a video trailer on the website... people on the internet might laugh at it but it wouldn't be getting near the negative response it got...
Blizzcon was not the time nor the place to announce this... especially when you have such little to actually announce...

Oh and I forgot to mention it ignores taht Blizzard has been hyping this for a while with "it's a graet time too be a Diablo fan." and their talking about the super secret Diablo Project...
and how the big announcement would be at Blizzcon.
Fans would have been totally fine with like LITERALLY anything else... D2 remaster, a new D3 expansion, or the most hyped D4...
Hell look how hyped people were for the nothing that was the Necromancer pack they released a few years ago...
this is like literally the only bad move they could have made outside of calling everyone in attendance a bunch of slurs.
