*sees Superman / Action #975 spoiler online* ........... THAT'S IT?Oh good grief. One the one hand, I guess I was asking for real awfulness (albeit maybe handled a little better now) if it had been who I thought it'd be, but on the other hand.....this seems horribly underwhelming. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Though it's their first appearance since New 52 kicked in, I believe... which means Rebirth is still about bringing back old things we thought were long gone.... That's not so bad? I actually really dig it. {Spoiler} Sure, I don't approve of a potentially more unhinged version but outside of the expected answer of Superboy Prime, there is nobody who would be more possessive and willing to mess around with Superman in this way besides Mr. Mxyzptlk.

{Spoiler}Not only does it make sense, but I feel as though he may have more pieces to the interdimensional Rebirth puzzle.

{Spoiler}When it was revealed to be old Myxy, I was like "That makes sense, Well played DC". Plus I love how it's linked to the Mr Oz stuff.
Also the references to the Animated Series were a treat

SO Inhumans Vs X-men was a waste event. Marvel'll get it right one of these days... It was flawed from the start. If you do heroes vs. heroes, you can't pit some c-level team with a small fanbase against a merchandise machine and one of the biggest teams in comics history like the X-Men.

But when was the last time that the X-Men had a really good run creatively? Remender's X-Force? Whedon's Astonishing X-Men? Morrison's New X-Men?
I wouldn't deny that the X-Men are popular, and certainly more popular than the Inhumans, but I think people still talk about the X-books as if they're as popular now as they were during the Claremont/Byrne-Cockrum era of the 70s and 80s or the Claremont/Lee/Fox cartoon days of the 90s. Whereas I think the name 'X-Men' itself remains popular because of the movies, more so than anything that the books have done in the past twenty years, besides some notable entries (Morrison, Whedon, Remender, maybe Bendis?) and stunts (no more mutants, death of Wolverine, etc.).
And even that lionizing of past glories obscures the fact that in general the X-books remain nigh impenetrable because of how beholden and bogged down they are by continuity (and continuity problems). On one hand that gives the characters and stories their charm, but on the other hand, holy hell, anything X can easily become convoluted.

Grant Morrison's run on X-men was brilliant and any modern X-men writer should read it as a textbook for how to make the team feel relevant again. the fact that it kept continuity without being bogged down by it certainly helped. I think most people just flip their lid at Xorn being Magneto (and in my head canon he was ALWAYS Magneto because those retcons make no damn sense) and just assume it was bad without even reading it.
keep in mind I DON'T see Magneto as a figure of sympathy and never bought any of his face turns anyway. dude's a terrorist with as much blood on his hands as Bin Laden (AT LEAST). ditto for Doctor Doom, while I'm at it.

Xorn and the true kick starter imo of "cyclops is a dick" personality we've been stuck with until now are my biggest issues with Morrison.

The Cyclops is a dick thing has been around since he abandoned his son and wife to be with Jean back in X-factor 1. So way before Morrison had his horrible run on the X-men. But I have realized for me Morrison works great on B-level or lower heroes. Put on some A list here and you get crap like All Star Superman.
