Doomsday Clock is truly the InVasion of DC Comics. The art's really nice but the fact that we're at "Oh, I guess Superman and Doctor Manhattan are gonna fight in 6 months or whenever the last issue comes out" is pretty horrible.

I haven’t read it, but I’d always heard Invasion was a pretty decent event.

I am a huge fan of the 1980s events and crossovers and Invasion is one of those that all I can really remember is that it had the teethy alien guys in it. That's all I can remember without googling it. I remember all sorts of moments from Millenium, Evolutionary War, Legends, way way way more of Secret Wars II than any one human needs to, but Invasion? Nope. Nada.

I don't know, I'm not going to get on them for delays because none of us really know the situation and what's going on. If it comes out, like, Geoff decided to take a nap without telling anyone and that's why it was delayed, that'd suck but we have no real way of knowing that.
Or maybe I'm just too easy to want to bash a major billion-dollar company for overworking people.

The previous issue of DOOMSDAY CLOCK was fascinating, explaining the reasons for Rebirth and Flashpoint with great results. I really do think the delays are because DC has no idea how to explain this series and its consequences whatsoever going forward. Johns probably has an idea, but Didio, Lee, Bendis and others either don't or aren't planning to stick with it. It's easy to blame the artist, but Gary Frank was posting art progress on social media and didn't seem like it was taking him long; and basically said that he was finally getting script pages. And considering SHAZAM is also being delayed (for no determinable reason; that book has 2 different artists), I think we're watching the end of the Geoff Johns era of DC Comics unfold.. Really? Nope. Nada. Aliens blew up a bomb that was supposed to destroy all metahumans (I think this is the event that introduced that term to the DCU?) and/or wipe out their powers, and it harmed a few people for a little bit and managed to kill 1 guy who was on the Doom Patrol that no one liked. And it was retroactive by a few months, no less. Why do I remember rando stuff like this. The main Invasion series is also the only DC comic Bill Mantlo ever wrote. He'd just had a falling out with Marvel and left, co-writing this with Keith Giffen.

I don't get the love for Doomsday Clock online. People act like it's this miracle book that will, by it's conclusion, "redeem" DC, when the truth is the cause of the delays, in addition to Johns being too busy with television, is to bring it more in step with the current dire direction of the company.
How they went about having Superman confront Manhattan was extremely lazy, almost comedic, and proof Johns is just phoning it in now.

Holy shit, I just found out Doomsday Clock was originally supposed to be monthly! The only reason the time between issues didn’t bother me is because I could’ve sworn it was announced as bimonthly from the start.
I’m not even kidding. 100% believed that.

Bendis wanted nothing to do with the Year of the Villain? Damn. That's the main drive of the entire DC line right now. Basically a major name Underworld Unleashed that costs a LOT more than UU did. T..thanks, Bendis? Interesting that this comes out a day after GOING BIG hit stores, a book sold on the fact that it was Larsen's return to Spidey........and he just did a backup story, eclipsed by a quality main story (by Conway & Bagley) in the same book.
