Dunno if this has been discussed before, but I was wondering what people thought of the idea of the US Title being considered the "Heavyweight" title of Raw, with the Universal title being open to all competitors. So the US and Cruiserweights would be considered equal with each other, and allow for the main event scene to be a mix of the divisions.
Thoughts?

Make it into a 'mean guy' belt like the NEVER Openweight belt basically is in New Japan. Rusev can be the Ishii of the division.

I think weight divisions in wrestling are a completely stupid idea even just for one belt. Doing it with the entire midcard would be infinitely worse. Basically render any and all matches between people of different weight classes who aren't main eventers a complete waste of time.

The US title was the US Heavyweight Championship in NWA/JCP somewhat a relic of a glorious era. But the US as the Beat the Shit out of the other guy and survive title? When we are getting Tomasso vs. Rusev?

A truly deep statement about obesity in America.

The way weight classes work is that you can't fight below your weight class because it gives an advantage. It doesn't work the other way around, where lighter guys are prevented from competing in heavier classes.
In high school our team didn't have any true heaveweights so we put a 190 pound guy out there against guys weighing 250 or more. It usually didn't go well.

That is what that belt is about? it's not a rule or a designated division but pretty much, since the belt has mostly been held by Ishii, Shibata and Makabe over the past few years the matches tend to be really hard-hitting

There should be a title that only wrestlers named Sheamus can battle for. This would naturally lead to about a half-dozen cruiserweights with mohawks and fake Irish accents.

Even more amusing is the fact one of the grittiest matches, Magnum/Blanchard I Quit, was for the US title. It would be a return to form, of sorts.

Now I might just have to go look that up, I've always been meaning to watch more classic NWA. And no, I'm not Triple H.
