It's not that he was some ring general in the first place but Jesus bro you looked very out of place against a guy in Trevor Lee who had to slow down to help you.
TNA if you are going to build him as some bad ass then have him wrestle like one or at least don't look so dopey. Also those white trunks has to go, you have nowhere near the physique for it.

I thought he did fine. He's a decent enough wrestler.

He didn't look too bad, though he did look a little rusty...hopefully, that goes away in time.

He's sloppy as always but that elbow finisher was nice.

The only thing Aron Rex has succeeded in impressing me with since he's come to TNA is how bland he is. He's not on Mr. Kanellis level yet, but I just drown out when he's on screen.

I'm surprised a gimmick worker is shitty at wrestling when not given a gimmick.

I never understood the love for him when he was Sandow. He's even worse now.

I never understood the love for him when he was Sandow. He's even worse now. He's not that bad when given a character he can get into*...or paired with Miz with the hopes of a face turn. Expecting his in-ring to carry him as some awesome...whatever...is never gonna work. *if we all agree Macho Sandow never happened.

Dude's never been a good in-ring talent. He's a classic mid 00's OVW wrestler. Competent but not much more than that.

Aron Rex's strength is in character work. He's one of those guys who needs a full-on gimmick of some kind, something big and loud and that he can play. He has mannerisms and can talk well enough--although he's been showing his ass on the mic in TNA enough that I wonder if he's not one of those guys who really needs his promos written for him--and in the hands of competent bookers and agents, you put him into a match that can suit him and not run on too long while letting his gimmick do all the work. TNA has forgotten about that entire and decided "OH SHIT LOOK AT THAT POPE IT'S THAT MIDCARD GEEK FROM WWE HE'S SO COOL AND GOOD AT WRESTLING" is a good enough hook for a guy who was only ever over as either an obnoxious genius or a guy playing for sympathy off of Miz's heel work. TNA has a huge problem with misusing people and not playing to their strengths while exposing their weaknesses hardcore, and a guy like Rex needed WWE a whole lot more than WWE needed him.
Dude's been wrestling since 2001 and he's still mediocre as f***.

He really signed his own death warrant with his "this is what you missed out on!" character. Apparently it leads to people watching you a little more closely than they would otherwise.

He was always entertaining in WWE, but straight up meh as a wrestler. Now he's in TNA without an entertaining gimmick and still a meh wrestler. Completely unimpressive in all areas.

Clearly a gimmick guy.
Without it, he is easily exposed.

Should've just been the intellectual character instead of this weird, edgy guy or whatever. That's really what people wanted from him in WWE. Doing the weird impersonations and stuff was really bad for the most part, sans the hilarity of Mizdow, but in kayfabe, why would a genius just become some phony actor's lackey? That was the real issue. The Savior played up to Sandow's strengths in terms of charisma and acting. Aron Rex does not, and highlights some in-ring weaknesses.
